I just came across this thread from 2010. Talking about the proposals that Duxford had for charging extra for
airshow Fridays, including charging members of FOD.
I see the idea of charging of those members was reversed. The charging of members of the general public must
have been reversed to, but the link to a statement from the IWM doesn’t work any more.
Can anyone with a long memory remember what their conclusions were ?

I remember being in my back garden when one of the B-17s which had been in Southend for a
paint job, flew over, heading west along the A127. Followed close behind by a P-51 doing barrel rolls.

I am surprised. It wasn’t A conspiracy theory, I was going by what food concessions were charged at the
Essex shows ten years ago. Many paying £1000 or more for the weekend for a small food wagon.

I know little about tanks either, but I wonder if they have reached the end of their development ?
Is there scope for improving armour any further, or the projectiles coming out of the barrel ?

Most, if not all of the conflicts we have been involved with where tanks have been used (post WWII), have been
against poorly equipped or poorly trained adversaries. You will only know how good your tanks are, if pitted
against a well trained army using modern tanks. I suspect that given this scenario, there wouldn’t be much in it.

One thing is for sure, your tank would be a target for every anti-tank missile on the battlefield.
It also takes a long time to move a lot of tanks.

How long before someone comments that you mustn’t be so negative, as you’ll upset the staff ?
As for queueing in Joe’s, we’ve found timing is important. Leave it until 1pm and you’ve got no chance.
