Apparently both the Telegraph, and then The Times, propagated the same story about an outside half loop at 250ft in the following days.
Perhaps the pilot was a rugby player as well :highly_amused:
Does the plug offer any clues ?
It looks like a US mains plug with flat pins
It’s Kenley both in fiction and reality but the squadron is fictitious.
Wasn’t it RAF Neethley in the film ?
A way to safely remove UXB’s ? :stupid:
Looks impressive, not sure about the control line bit though….
“It will be flown next year in a large circle on thin steel cables attached to Mr Nelson and a friend to control its in-flight functions”
Try searching for R4118 or UP-W on google or this site.
It is I believe the only flying Hurricane which participated in the BoB and is painted in the original 605 Sqn colours.
I don’t know the numbers involved but they were certainly in action during the BoB. There is an account of Sgt Leslie Ralls stripping much of the fabric during a flat out dive in one of the 605 Sqn association books.
“The ghostly airman scene walking towards the tower is more likely to be a replay of history i.e the stone tape recorder theory.”
More likely a stoned hippy squatter 😀
Dificult to say without being able to take measurements. The Me109 is approx 1.08″ span which would make it about 1/360 scale.
The Spitfire looks a bit smaller, I would guess about 1/600 scale.
You can work it out by dividing the full size wingspan by the model wingspan.
I bet the last word is STENDEC
Eitherway I bet it is classified, this could have been a crucial piece of information!
Just a thought, could this be a training document used to teach fitters (Cosford was No 2 school of technical training) how to complete the paperwork and as such does not relate to a real airframe?
There is something which doesn’t strike me as quite right regarding the hours of the installed and replacement propellers as well as the uncompleted fields for the hydraulic / oleo oil.

I don’t know why anyone would feel the need to post it, here or anywhere else.
“Amazing and funny accident please must watch….” Says something about the type of folk who would want to see this.
