Santo Domingo is chocked out and is having the same problem as PaP. The border has been closed to only UN and Red Cross shipments only, I do not know how any other agencies are circumventing this problem but it is a bit a rolling goat at the moment.
We had two Il76’s scheduled and cleared into PaP but had to to be diverted to Santo Domingo who also had closed due to too much traffic so aircarft diverted to another Dom Rep airfield and is unloading there.
The port facility in PaP is totally wiped out and there is no time estimate when it be serviceable again.
We are planning to send the 225 on 3 flights to Santo Domingo on behalf of the UN from the UN Logistics Base in Brindisi Italy starting on Monday.
Santo Domingo is not a good option, as it’s one of the most busy airports in the Caribbean. In fact, several aircraft landed at San Isidro Air Base , home of the Fuerza Aérea Dominicana and among them are Brazilian CASA 295, C-130, Argentine C-130, French Transall C-160R and at least one Spanish transport (no idea what type, believed to be C-130 too). From there it is transported to Haïti by CASA 212 from FAD or UH-1H’s, which are bringing in relief supplies and return to DR with wounded people who need urgent help in hospital. Also used is Santiago de Cibao airport. The main problem is the lack of enough helicopters to fly from DR to Port-au-Prince area… The situation is, of course, very worse…. it might be one of the most devastating earthquakes ever happened in the region. Let’s hope that people who need so much help will get it.
Cheers.

The Fuerza Aérea Dominicana provide it’s UH-1H-II helicopters and one CASA 212 for transport supplies and bringing wounded people back to DR for treatment in hospitals. At least four Hueys are involved, and also some Kiowa’s are seen flying over Haiti. Seen at San Isidro AB yesterday was one Spanish AF C-130H, one French Transall and one Brazilian AF CASA 295.

Very nice pictures here…. something else; looking for non museum pictures of Royal Norwegian Air Force T-33’s, C-119’s and F-84 Thunderjets…
Any of you
Cheers
Well… I would go for the OV-10X of course…. but if this is not gonna happen, I would prefer the Super Tucano. They already showed what they are capable off in Colombia this year 😮 I would never choose such crap as T-6B Texan…. it’s just a trainer, keep it that way.
Cheers
Hm… very interesting pictures from those Malagasy MiG-17’s…
I never saw them before.
Question? Does any one has good quality pictures from Dominican Republic Alouette II and Hughes OH-6 Cayuse?
Thanks,
TigerII
Interesting pictures from that Gabon Guard Alouette and Gazelle, any more pictures from those Gabon Gazelles? How many did they use?
TigerII
I believe it when I see it…
The RoNAF says that the minimum number of a/c they need is 56. That does not mean that they will get it.
Our Navy asked for 6 frigates — in the end they got 5 “cheap” ones with hardly any weapons, and now it turns out they will get money to operate only 3…
My guess is that Norway will buy a maximum of 48 F-35.
My question is if the RNoAF has chosen the JSF, or is there a (little) chance they might opt for another aircraft like Grippen NG or even Eurofighter?
Thanks for help,
TigerII

Hm… most likely for the Dominican Republic, depends what was the date of this picture. In 1980 several T-28D were noted at Ft.Lauderdale destinied for the Fuerza Aérea Dominicana, but never delivered!
