Another siamesed aircraft but this one flew.
Please supply details, never seen it before.
Don’t read this thread every day but…….
Tricky one that, because just about every era has had a crack at re-interpreting & in many cases re-writing it.
Mainly the Romans, but what did they ever do for us? 😉
Hell of a lot actually but the Brits of that time were too stupid to realize it.

Absolutely magnificent. What a project.
Getting back to the thread title, here’s a few of my local ‘wetland’

“And God created the earth…blaa blaa blaa” No he didn’t. Man made God as ‘sticky847’ has just said. But, having said that, it’s known that at the instant of death, the human body gets fractionally lighter. This is said to be the spirit or sole leaving the body. That being so, where do all these spirits go? My guess, only the good bits of our soul go on to another life and that, initially is to what I call the Collective Consciousness where we judge ourselves and decide what we need to put right in our spiritual life. Rebirth, re-incarnation happens and we subconsciously try to right the past wrongs in our new life. This process repeats until such time as we have attained enlightenment and we then become a permanent fixture as God.
So my God is the great CC and if you can prove me wrong, perhaps you should be God.

Ah, you’ve changed pages and I so enjoyed reviewing ‘2 bristles in front of a Bristle’. Started my day in and uplifting way don’t ya know.:highly_amused:
A lot of work to get it looking like this.

Originally it was favourite grip or yoke….but it would have withered and died yonks ago if that had been the case. It is now, as others say, a worthy resource. Maybe a title change might appease those that want the thread title to accurately reflect the content (lol)
No, don’t bother. I was just wondering. If I was to collect something, there would only be 2 I would want. A yoke from the Blackburn Beverley, and the stick from a Lightning. Both of which I have sat and ‘played’ with during my RAF career. Very doubtful that anyone will find the Bev yoke though.
Whilst I find this thread very interesting, I’m not a collector. I do, however have a question. Are posters showing us just what they have, or are they truly, as the thread title suggests, your FAVORITE columns, sticks, yokes, whatever?
To lighten this rapidly darkening thread, Archimedes is reported to have said “Give me a long enough lever and I’ll move the Earth” All well and good, but where would he have put the fulcrum?
If it ever needed to be moved again, wouldn’t it be possible to remove the complete leg to work on the brake problem?
Pity to see her out in the weather but then, she was an all weather fighter, wasn’t she?

Sounds like the Lightning accident you mentioned was F/O George Davie of 92 Sqn which crashed at Hutton Cranswick near Leconfield on 27/4/64, a sad day indeed.
I have a copy of the accident report and it records that the aircraft hit the ground at an angle of 35-45 degrees. The pilot may have been attempting a forced landing when control was lost.
Correct. I was driving from RAF Driffield where I lived for the start of night shift (19 Sqdn) when the plane passed me at about 200 feet. I didn’t see it crash but heard that he ran out of fuel. I don’t know if he was trying to land, but I doubt it.
