So much work goes into every restoration that I dont think that I could single out any particular one, however, one that I have watched over the years is TFC’s Gladiator. This has given me an apreciation of the hard work and dedication that exists behind the scenes.
Thanks for the info Stormin, didn’t mean any offence, as Hatton said, just a bit of banter old chap!:)
Bum doors open.
I believe that WG Foxley was a Navagator, or Wirless Operator on Wellingtons, I will consult the books when I get home tonight and let you know for sure.
Steve.
I read an interview with Ray in Wingspan in late 99/early 2000. In it Ray revieled that it was his intention to retire to NZ & take one of his fighters with him for his own amusement.
It would seem that there has been a problem with the CAA in the UK with both the P40 & LA9, and as they are regestered in NZ I guess that it was inevitable that they wouls ‘go home’
Shame about the Corsair though, that could have stayed here.
My feeling is though that the OFMC will carry on and, hopefully go from strength to strength and maybe expand the UK fleet.
I wish Ray a very happy retirement, (he will be missed) and many years of continued succsess to the OFMC.

Hmmm, I fell for a DD promotion last year, NEVER AGAIN! I returned the Video as I already had it (in a different guise)and they chased me for months for the money even though I’d sent it back!
They got quite threatening so I paid up for a quiet life. So I now vote with my wallet & do not buy any DD products.
Little tinkers!
AT6, Yeh, I know you’re Harvard, Isa a lovley machine. I’ve got some nice foto’s I took at the Havard 50th bash at North Weald about 5 years ago, I’ll dig them out and try to post them here.
I’ve got around 35 hours on the type & just 40 minuts on the Wirraway.
The Wirraway flight was only from the back seat but seemed much smoother & lighter than the T6. Even in the high temperature of an Australian summer the rate of climb was great.
Steve.
Nice Picture AT6Pilot2b, Must have ben Woodchurch this year.
I have three faves, Firstly OFMC’s MH434 as I have been watching her fly for 35 years.
Second is the P51 ‘cos its so damn sexy &
Third is the T6, just because its the only ‘heavy’ warbird type I have flown (as well as the Wirraway)
Mind you, I’ve got a fair bit of time on the oh so sweet Tiger Moth so I might have to include that too.
Ahhh! All Warbirds are my favorits.
Steve:)
Hmmm, I’ve got FP from day 1 also,as well as Pilot from 1988 to date.
Ive had the same thoughts as you Seafuryfan, maybe I should pass them on to someone else so they can receive the same pleasure that I have had over the years.
They’re going to stay in the loft until I’ve made up my mind.
Its great to look back at the old airshows of the early eighties though, and one day the old memory is bound to pack up……..
Nostalga ‘aint what it used to be…………:)
I concour with Manonthefence, some fantastic photo’s that have generated some thought from some knowlegable people.
This is what this forums for…..
Steve:)
I think that OW have the balance just right, I mean, if they don’t sell ‘muck from a truck’ they don’t need so many toilets…er…if you know what I mean…;)
Thanks Eddie!
Question,
Were the NZ operated Mustangs NA P51’s or CAC 18’s
Steve:confused:
Well,
Mr Clostermann is famous for flying his Tempest V, but also flew Spitfire V & 1X’s too. In Algeirs he flew Tomcats (the French name for the T6) & the Max Holst Brousard.
So any one of those I guess.
Steve
‘course, I meant the RAF Museum at Hendon, thanks David.;)
