I had an involvement with a P2 some 20 years ago, Steven Grey advised me to try Paul Warren Wison for a set of English Manuals. I never followed this up as I sold my share of the P2 shortly after.
I hope this helps in some small way. Good Luck

Beech 18 at Legends
The Beech 18 Operated by the Aircraft Restoration Company at Duxford was displayed at the Flying Legends Airshow two or thee years ago. I believe it was flown by John Webb, Gary Numan’s brother.
Excellent! thanks Mike, I just really want to see that footage now!!
I remember Mark Hanna telling me that there was a fixed camera on Buchon G-BOML that produced some awsome footage.
This, apparently was not used because the film was the crew of the belle and their point of view only.
There would seem to be so much unseen footage that could be used (sold) for another film methinks. (Just like the BoB film footage that has been re-used & the film ‘Mosquito Squadron’ that was 633 Squadron 1st time around)
To Answer Dave Homewoods question, P51’s & Buchons somtimes flew together to colectively act as friend and/or foe for distant shots. I did hear that Spitfires were also used in this way, dont know if thats true though.
Blue Leader
Had me fooled there Daz, thought it was a real one that I didn’t know about! DOH!
A Simple call to the Police then……
Yep, 20-odd extra chapters and the whole book bought up to date, complete with his own combat reports.
A fantastic book just got better.
Who would have thought though that paper rationing would have been the cause of the abridged version?
Ahhh, the Frightener…..
My first ever ‘sit’ in the office as a small boy was at Lydd when Silver City operated the type.
They used to fly over my house on finals and I used to look up and wonder….
So Lydd is where I did my PPL!
Doyaknow, you could see a Freighter coming, go get a camera, take a picture, take the film to ‘Boots’, get it developed, come home & it was still going by….
Ahh, Halogen dayzzzzzz! 🙂
This may be useful too.
Did you know that the RAF used 108’s?
There was a mass exidus of High Ranking Germans in the last days of WW11, many used 108’s. (see Pierre Clostermanm’s un-abridged edition of ‘The Big Show’ – 20 odd ‘new’ chapters, a great book just got better).
I will trawl through the librery and see if I can find a few note worthy fleeing Germans that I can associate with a particular aircraft.
Watch this space.
Are you going to stick with the Lycoming?

Hi Sat2, I’ve always wanted to see a book featuring the Airfix box artwork – the pictures used to captivate me as a kid, particularly Jonnie Johnsons MKIX Spitfire. Is this the airfix book which you mention?
I still have an early 70’s Airfix catalogue that contains dozens og photgraphs of built & painted kits.
There is a book that contains all the Airfix artwork, it was reviewed in Flypast or Aeroplane a couple of years ago.
It might still be available.
Steve
Th1st was Airfix’s 1:72 Spitfire 1X J-EJ that my Dad painted for me, I was about 9. he second was the same again, only I removed the cannons and painted it byself in BoB film colours, inspired by MH434 that I’d seen at an airshow in these markings. I eaven put a ‘shell’ sticker (removed from a toy racing car) on thae port side under the cockpit, just like the real thing.
I build hundreds of kits over the years until the day my Dad bought me an air rifal and, well, you can guess the rest. (well over thirty years later you can still find bits of plastic in the garden).

Yep, The Yak 9’s that have been an TFC’s Hanger for years are Yak 11’s. One belonged to TFC, the other to the OFMC.They were sent to Russia years ago for conversion to Yak 9’s in the original Yakvolev factory. They are to be fitted with Allison Engines. There has been some trouble with either the quality of the engine mountings or the requirements from the CAA. Its something like that anyway.
OFMC’s has gone to NZ to be completed and is due to return here 2005/6.
