Hey warbirdUK,
I was based at Lydd in 93 when MK732 was assembled. Mark Hanna test flew her & Dan Griffiths took her back to Holland on which I believe was his first flight in a Spitfire.
Were you around then?
The IWM Defiant so needs to fly, so does the Tempest V, failing that, Black 6……………..;)
Hi Bograt,
I remember (seeing) either a written or video interview with Paul Day who stated that PS 915 was no longer pressurised. I will trawl through the ‘library’ and find out more detail for you.
Regards,
Steve.
Thanks Paul,
I must admit though, I dont get the ‘mermaids for Hienkels’ bit at all.
I think that must be a mistake.
Steve
It was watching Ray Hanna fly MH434 as a nine year old, I’m now forty four. Ray is the best of the best and was the insperation for my passion for vintage aeroplanes as well as becoming a pilot.
This is the last year of the Brietling Fighters so make sure that you see them. Like most of you, I attend many airshows throughout the year, all civilian acts are well flown, but Ray & his team stand out as they are profesional display pilots.
I Guess that the P40 is being prepared for her return to NZ, but does anyone know whats up with the P51? (& please, no more missing mustangs gags)
Steve
Hmm, Mirical of the low………..
All,
FYI, 3500 people are killed on Britains roads each year.
Nice pics BR, are there any a/c from the stable of the late Paul Morgan? The Sea Fury & Corsair have gone I know, but the whereabouts of P51 ‘Suzy’ is unknown to me
Steve
Cheapest ‘plane I ever hired was a Tiger Moth three years ago, for the equivelant of GBP12.00 per hour solo, dry.
Twas in Australia though, long way to come home for yer dinner!
😉
Hi Willow,
I give mine to the Duxford Aviation Society who sell them on Airshow days to raise money for restorations.
Drop them in on a Sunday Morning and they will show you round for free. Go to the main gate and ask for them.
Steve
Weapons of mass destruction…….hidden……for fifty eight years………..
I concour with the comments posted here, a fantastic show as always, this is my 12th consecutive visit and it just gets better each year.:D
TFC’s Corsair was a no-show & I guess that the Spit V was a substitute.
Yak 11 fan, whar’s the take-off distance for an 11?
Rob’s strip is 830m grass and it was a very hot day and their take-offs looked marginal to me.
Fantastic day, thanks to Rob Davies et al.
Steve
Thanx for the welcom chaps!
I have a java script error reading when I try to get past the home page on Avi8.
I use my office PC to access, so it may be an attack by the thought police!
I’m looking into it.
