you are seeing imperfections in the skin smoothness..a fact of life for an aircraft of that age.
yeah i expect your right, I’m just not one to really believe published project dates….
ah well no chance for this weekend, good ol british rail would have me go through london there and back, from bristol…..v bloody annoying.
your sure about the 201x’s…….I bet it’ll be more like 202x’s……early on tho i’ll give you that.

“The buffets cheap on a friday….!!”
seriously tho, that second pic is quite somthing golden dragon.
quick response time vs endurance….age old problem….I would hope endurance wins out…as response times would be quicker if the bomber was already on station around the battlefield area….
any other way to get there if your not able to go by car/bike???
an FB-22/23 (i would like the -23) long range strike aircraft would be cool. I think the USAF will probably have a requirement for 2-3 squadrons of such aircraft, in order to replace the F-15E’s when they are ready for retirement. however by that time I expect major portions of the strike force to be UCAV.
The idea of using large bombers on ‘global power’ missions is the best in terms of efficiency manpower useage and asset ‘safety’ as being based far away from theatre is a safe proposition.
Given todays engine reliability and increasingly superior crew management aids and systems i c no reason why the US should not investigate a very long range high SUBsonic bomber.
All these hypersonic bomber programs and like dont seem to take into consideration the carriage of any stores and what the journey might do to them…..the heat and vibrations for example.
the subsonic bomber has none of the problems of drag and fuel burn and lacks only in terms of reaction times. the aircraft would have a long endurance on-station in order to be of most use, and carry a large payload of a variety of types of weapons in order to provide the best ‘force mix’ in terms of attack.
again i expect this requirement to become an unmanned aircraft in the forseeable future.
very nice!
def a show to try out in next years calender.
i’d rather sit outside than get shafted again for this summers airshow.
thanx guys, glad you like them…makes it all worth while as the missus doesnt take quite the same interest (cant think why ?!? ) 🙂

yup looks like a surface search radar, probably for locating ice floeas/ice bergs things like that, considering where this aircraft deploys to.
i had an interesting chat with a guy from the J-UCAS project at farnborough on friday…..how far can the J-UCAS be controlled from??
well…ANYWHERE in the world. if you cant get a satellite to it, or your P3/737MPA isnt in direct line of site, why not route through anther CCC type aircraft, or a U-2 or another J-UCAS…..
surely the background music would be ‘ride of the valkeries…….’
watch yer’ back SOC.
yes, great indeed! i’d love to see some of those aircraft at a uk display, i suppose i should save up for a trip to a european airshow.
