    thanx for the comments guys,

i have been meaning to put a copyright on my photo’s for a while, just getting round to adding it at the processing stage!!

I use the EF 75-300mm lens that i got with my cannon eos300 body.

with the ‘artificial’ magnification i get a 300*1.6 = 480mm lens out of it in reality.

    they are indeed, AV-8B’s

some of these latest harriers (those with the pointier noses) are equipped with APG-65 derivatives i believe.

re the ‘non-acoustic’ methods of detection.

we can rule out any forms of active wave radiation.

you could use passive acoustic to pick up signals from ‘screws and the type. not good enough tho in my opinion.

combined with a laser detection system we could see a very effective form of v v hard to detect active system.

thing is, i am happy in my understanding of the transmitting part of a LADAR but havnt really much on the receiving part. can anyone elaborate??

in desert storm most raf aircraft were pink, or ‘sand’ to give it its non girly name! apparantly most of it came from B&Q.

there were quite a few vivid colours on uboats and british/american subs during ww2 some in dazzle paint schemes, i believe efforts were taken to reduce the visual signs of subs underwater in the clearer oceans such as the med and in some eastern areas.

    need help!

heres a nice pic for you that came out of a pocket spotters book from aeons ago it would seem (given the condition the book is in!! )

i am looking for technical data on the provost aircraft for a flight sim project.

I especially am on the lookout for:

    flap angles
control surface deflections (angles or distances doesnt matter to me!)

if you can get your hands on them and post them here (or pm me) that would be brill as they seem hard to come by.

I am also in need of photo’s of the cockpit.

    Many thanx in advance

continuous drive??? havnt seen that one, or is the burst the same thing?? only the sports setting seems to allow photo after photo, with the camera having to think about refocussing (nothing more than the slr does).

i have lots of practice with panning, but nothing up to the roughly 480mm that the camera gives out, and i did notice that it was easy to decenter the aircraft when pressing the button, so your right, more practice there!

would the extra battery attachment with its vertical grip be better?? does anyone use it??

phil (we share taste in forenames) the hurricane was the first display, and it was really superb, the spit the last display item!

the spit was good, but i got distracted as for some reason that i havnt quite figured out yet, for most of the routine the viewfinder and sensor picked up a white mist which i couldnt get to disappear, whether it was brief condensation in the lense because it had just tipped it down and had taken photo’s during the rain, of the a340, so the camera got wet (altho all is still in working order) and the heat of the sun provoked the reaction , i dont know. anyway, all seems well now.

Another one for the weird **** file.

against mig 21’s i can believe quite happily that the jag can take it on and win, remembering that the jag must employ similar tactics of shoot and blast through, the jag should not really be turning and burning with aircraft like the mirage, and the F16/F15.

the main reason for allowing medium level bombing in previous wars was a lack of operational(and coordinated) air defence threat, where the threat came mainly from AAA and shorter range SAMs.

Against a coordinated air defence threat you would see many strike aircraft heading for the deck.

it might possibly be as they go to the air data sensors, so maybe new wiring or additional wiring…i also notice that the starboard inboard cowl ring is different to the rest of the engines
