I think many Americans suffer more from poverty than from terrorism. But to defeat poverty, buying more tanks, F-16’s and NMD’s won’t help. And to keep the public quiet, an occasional war is necessairy to justify the huge military spendings.

Not really concerned. We will play hardball on the issue of direct attack on U.S. soil period. You are entitled to your opinions, but that is all they are. You have no say in how we deal with a direct threat to our nation. Don’t like it? Too bad.

I grew up around small planes and my dad always had a small plane of one flavor or another. I have some contempt for the private pilot instruction level here in the U.S. Yes it is a free country and everyone can take a shot at learning to fly, a lot of people just don’t pack the mental gear to fly with good discipline. I have seen some pretty stupid stuff over the years.

Not teaching a pilot to spin ( hands on ) is just plain stupid. Flying an airplane isn’t a perfect, predictable experience. You prepare all the time to be able to respond to stuff that just happens. Unless someone has been given hands on training in spin and recovery, YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW THAT PERSON WILL REACT WHEN IT HAPPENS. It can rattle some people. Add a little less than perfect visibility to that and you have trouble. Just read the NTSB website and the accidents. Not all of them have to do with spinning of course but IMHO there are too many people coming out of basic schools that are just plain dangerous. Other things like people that refuse to calculate their take off weight and consult published charts of how the aircraft acts is another great one. Newbies fly and practice by themselves then take a low powered 4 place aircaft and their buddies and all their gear on a trip. The plane flys completely different, they are too stupid to understand numbers and such and they wreck the airplane and kill everybody. This is one of many reasons the lawyers over here have ruined private flying. Everything around it is way too expensive these days. RANT MODE: “Off”
