Very lucky indeed. Good controlled landing though.

Thought the V1 was rocket powered?.

It was actually an early Pulse Jet if I’m not mistaken

My favourite vintage jets have to be:-

    1st. Sea Vixen FAW2
    2nd. F105D Thunderchief
and finally the Grumman F9f Panther.

Oh to see one of those fly again!

Done quite a bit today. Started the Squadron Witch on both sides and painted the VL on the tail and finished off around the Observers hatch. Pleny left to do though but she’s coming on strong 😀 Also at home I spent a considerable amount of time on decal making for the Vixen, of which you can see a couple on the base of the fuz just above the front U/C.

Another good airshow I used to go to when I was young, was the RAFA Air Display at Coventry Airport.

In the late 70’s early 80’s, RAFA used to organise a superb airshow and I remember many a hot Sunday August afternoon watching the show from my Dads car in the airport grounds. The very first time Concorde every appeared at the show was spell binding, the inclusion of the then, Kings Cup Air Race but most of all and funnily enough already mentioned by me but this time from a different country, was the Dutch F104G Starfighter. I always remember that every year on the Thursday afternoon before the Sunday show the Starfighter would come screaming over our house really low, we’d rush out to see it just disappearing over the houses behind, but it always came back for another go, obviously doing ‘Hello I’m here’ flybys for the tower. On the Friday and Saturday we would be treated to a 20 minute display when he practised his routine but on the Saturday it was a dream for me, because many aircraft taking part in the show would arrive on that day. The vintage pair Meteor and Vampire, the Mosquito, Firefly, BBMF Lancaster and even SallyB in her then all over bare metal scheme (if it was her) are just a few that graced our skies on a weekend before the Coventry Airshow.

God I miss those good days!!

It has been broadcast to millions already, you don’t have to watch but the choice is yours.
Personally i hope it was’nt aired before the family and friends of the pilot had been informed.

I agree. If you don’t wanna watch then don’t!

Shame it happened. A sad loss to the aviation community.

    I forgot I started this thread 😮

Another show I remember, although the date escapes me, is the Leicester Airshow. It was back in the 80’s some time and it was the final year and final UK show of the German Vikings Display Team, with there two F104 Starfighters. I remember the distinctive howl of the 104’s over the airfield and the tight display routine they performed for such powerful aircraft.

    Superb 😀

Having spoken to the young lad who was working on her at the Taxi run day she is not in taxying condition now after an incident the last time she was run. He hopes to get everything up and working in time on her.

Last I heard, she caught fire.!!

Anyway, this is a picture of XN685 after some work I did on her today. I’m very happy with this finish at the minute 😀

This is not our war and from my own point of view, I think we should keep out of it and let them bomb the crap out of each other. No loss of ours!

He decided to stop for a drink and smacked into the police car so the copper couldn’t chase him after he had a few 😀

Seriously though, glad the pilot is ok. 😉

the one at Duxford, the ones at Yeovilton, yours and the one at Brunti.

    Bruce

The one at Brunti isn’t that nice looking, although she does engine runs. She could do witha good scrub up! 😀
