Well I suppose you’d have to buy a copy just for saying “I fly with FSX”, does this mean I need to upgrade my laptop?

David Burke! – Like I said, if you read, all aspects of trying to get the aircraft undercover are being looked at. Now, when the BP P111 was delivered to the museum, the large building we have was not as then built. The museum was then run by enthusiasts and not under the management that it now is and I totally agree with you, why the hell do we have a T33 commonstar in there and not a one off extremely rare example like the P111, ask the so called enthusiasts that put the thing in there!! Now David, I’m like you. I’m all for the P111 to go in the main hanger. I’ve even said, why don’t we take the T33 apart and put it outside so we can get the P111 in but at this time, that is one of many ideas we are trying to come up with for getting it inside. Time, manpower and cost are all things we have against us, but I can assure you we are doing our utmost. You only have to look at all our other exibits outside to see how they are all progressing for the better and people know we do our best and can see the progress, but it takes time. We don’t have concrete paths wide enough to pull these aircraft easily around the site, it’s 90% grass and soft earth in places. If we tried to drag the P111 now it will only be a matter of a few feet before it dug in! Plus you have to take in consideration, their is are two rather large aircraft we need to strategically move around called a Vulcan and and Argosy. So, before we even think about getting it inside, we have the rather annoying job of seeing how we can move it without causing any damage to it or any other of our valuable aircraft, because they are all valuable to us!

I think the best thing you can do is come to the museum and speak to the manager or chairman and voice your opinions to them and see what they say. You may walk away with a very surprised look or your tail between your legs.

We are used to people going on about this subject, but funnily enough when it comes down to it, nobody every seems to want to help…………I wonder why? 😡

The next airframes to be painted this year are the finishing of my project, the Sea Vixen, the Gannet and also our other largest aircraft the Argosy!

    That’ll be fun 😮

What of the outdoor aircraft is next in line for a repaint?

I like that Mil Mi-24 Hind…is that still pretty much a flyer or a complete airframe?

It’s probably a bit of both. Although it will not fly, it’s one of those airframes that could easily be put back in the air because it is 100% complete.

Do you wish to see the pictures I took when we were moving the Sabre. I’ll gladly post them for you?

It would be a good idea to put the BP P111 in the hanger where the Harrier is yes, we even thought about both aircraft going in there but we would have to oust out other valuable airframes. (swings and roundabouts) We want to put the Boulton Paul in a building permanantly. The hanger down the bottom with the Harrier in is used exstensively with events we hold on an annual basis which means the airframes in there i.e. the Harrier and before that the Mig 21, have to be wheeled out for us to use them. This is something we would not want to keep doing with the P111 so it is not the best place for the aircraft to go. It will once placed in it’s final resting place, inside, never be moved again and an exhibit built around it giving the history of the BP P111. We have to think carefully about the moving of the airframe and the biggest factor, COST!! We are a Charity organisation and rely on the paying customers to keep us going. We have funds to keep the museum ticking over but we can’t fork out £60,000 just like that for a building. Cosford, is a government funded museum, hense the free entry. The Boulton Paul is a rare aircraft that we have on our site and if it means customers coming in and paying to see the airframe, which in turn funds us and keeps us going, would you still wish it went to Cosford?

    Think about it!

    Papalima,

their is one aircraft that I see is not in your collection of pictures from the museum and thats the one I’m working on. Do you have a problem with Sea Vixens!!!!

😡 Also, I have said this time and again about the Boulton Paul P111. We are aware of it’s value and it’s rarity. We are seriously looking at the covering of the airframe to protect it from the weather and can assure you all, the airframe is getting the attention it needs. As for Cosford getting it, forget it!!! Unless someone comes up with the orginal E38/29 as a replacement 😡

    Hi Chris.

It’s good to see this happening at the airport. We get bored of seeing the same thing day in day out. The occasional historic jet flying out of being run up is good. May I say also Chris, you may want to come visit the Museum and have a look at our Canberra WF922. Our ex RAF Canberra maintainance man Malcolm has done wonders for our aircraft. I think only the engines are the only item not working on the aircraft. (you got any spare starter cartridges?) : )

I maybe wrong in putting this in after how I originally started the thread, but last week, I read in an article in a well known mens magazine, (and I don’t mean the rude kind) on air crashes, that, for you to be involved in an air crash just once, you’d need to fly every day for ten hours at a time for 15,000 years.

Or in another form 1:11,000,000,000 chance!

Being one of the members there anyway, I’ll more than likely be there already, but it sounds a good idea. At least then we will know who we are talking to and it will give me chance to show off the Sea Vixen, oh yeah, and a certain Canberra that has a big following there!

(Sorry Malc. Wasn’t really going to forget her!)
