Now, now girls!!
Nice photo’s.
If I go to Duxford on Thursday, is there any chance of seeing something fly ?
In my past visits to Duxford, when the weekend of Flying Legends is upon us, the Thursday before the show seems like a rehersal for the weekends display so going by that, if it ‘s the same for every airshow there, then yes, their more than likely will be!
B1-Lancer during the Air Fete at Mildenhall or Air Tattoo as was the SR71….both are ear splitting, rib rattlers!!!!
Will be there for both days and if the weather is as good as it was this weekend just gone, we’ll be in for a stonker of an air display……as usual!!
When I first started this thread, I never expected it to be as popular as this, but then saying that, Mildenhall was one of the best airshows around.
Thankyou for the response and lets try and keep this one going for a while as there are some cracking photos of what now I suppose you could say is ‘History of the Hall’………….excellant!!!!
In my eye’s, this was what Mildenhall was about! Don’t often share these….
I won’t say on the forum what I really think of you for putting that picture of me on here……………your a nasty man Bostin!!!!!
Please note forum chums. The images of the person under the airframe are that of a false nature! He asked me to take a piccy of him under there to make it look like he was working…….how cheap!!
I’m not sure that you would want to meet my apprentice LesB………..his heart is in the right place though bless him.
Thanks for the comments on the piccys…….
Nice to have these photos posted Rob – is it possible to add captions to the less obvious ones?
I sometimes think about the possible dilemma at MAM and other museums of occasionally opening access panels/doors.
It’s great to open them and let people gaze at some of the internals but, perhaps, spoils it for someone who wants a clean pic of the aircraft. Hope anyone in that situation asks to shut them briefly for their pic.
Roger Smith.
To be honest with you Roger, no one has ever asked me to close them for a picture. I have, however, had numerous people say to me that it makes a change to see panels open as it shows that the airframe internaly is being worked on!
a few more…….
Some very nice pictures indeed! I think it’s great to see all these photo’s that have been taken recently of warbirds still flying! It just goes to show how many differant types of classic fighters their still are about in this world today.
Keep it up guys!!!
one thing that i heard that was freaky is that on average 30 light aircraft vanish each year and about 2 boats every week!! it happens so often they dont make a fuss.
That is rather a disturbing thought to be quite honest SJ!
What gets me though, if that is a true statement regarding how often aircraft and ships disappear, surely they should know by now roughly where most of the craft disappear on the charts and if that were so, why don’t they just put a no go over that area! Is it so hard to fly or sail around the area of spookyness?
I suppose the morel of this story is ‘you shouldn’t of took your shirt off Rob!’
How silly am I?
Ginger I am most deffinatly not monkey boy!
On that subjuct, your not to bushed up on the bonce yourself!! HA HA!
Don’t forget your my apprentice and I may sack you!!!
I’m sure a forum meet could be possible at the museum, providing we have no other events on at the time. I was working on ‘Vicky’ as I call her, again today and did a fair wack of work on the tail, and as LesB has said, the sun is back of it’s hols……………I worked on that tail for about two hours and in that time took my t-shirt off for about an hour and a half……………..I am now suffering a little with a burnt back! I don’t need to preach to much but while all us aviation restoration freaks work on these machines, just take into consideration the power of the fire in the sky and how we work in it for lengths of time! Watch your back, neck, head or any other part of your body you wish to expose while ‘oh great light in yonder sky’ is with us!!
Yeah, what a guy!!!!………………….my hero 😉
Still ……………..he’s got a cracking apprentice :diablo:
lol
bostin
It always helps to have a good apprentice…..that way if I make a balls up I can blame him then. lol
