    Gosh thats a shame!

Also I think theres some nightly cargo flights by a shorts 360 D-CRAS.

The Shorts 360 your referring to comes into Coventry every night along with a second aircraft from Germany around 30 minutes later. Both these aircraft bring in Cargo for Junghienrich, Siemens, Briggs and also frieght for Lynx which is then driven to the delivery company I drive for DXBusiness Direct. It had a massive effect at our firm as both flights have now been permenantly rerouted to Birmingham International.

I hope that the permanantly part of the plan doesn’t mean they know something we don’t 🙁

RIAT has lacked its grace of the past over the last few years but I can only assume its down to defense cuts more than anything plus as mentioned before the ongoing increase of insuranse prices for the more historic airframes to fly but it has definatly gone down a notch or two from years gone by. I remember one year in the early 90’s, 95 I think, when IAT had no less than eight display teams, it was the year the Tu95 Bear was invited and flew. It was the best air display I had ever seen. Fast thunder and legendary song filled the skies that weekend along with temperatures in the high 80’s and if I remember it was topped off right at the end with a massive thunderstorm:D

I think most airshows nowadays have dropped a little in standard compared to what they used to be. It all started I think with the Air Fete at Mildenhall the year that stopped doing shows.

How I miss ‘The Hall’ 🙁 Best airdisplay of the year in my honest opinion!

    Great pics. Thanks for sharing.

Love the first picture of the Raider with her wings folded. Don’t suppose you have any more shots of this aircraft do you as I’m building an R/C model of one and the detail shots are a help?

Thats good news. I look forward to seeing her at RIAT then in a couple of weeks, a show I’d rather more see her fly at than that of Waddingtons…….

Keep up the good work guys once again;)

Oh and Robmac I certify and renew C of A’s as a living, some 15 plus aircraft all told, and I do not have an armchair!

So, that doesn’t make you any more special over us. And if you don’t have an armchair, then all I can say is, it can’t be a very well paid job! What do you certify? Microlights?:D

    [QUOTE=parsley;1431193]

….when you say… “I read on this site that “we cannot force other nations to attend” and “we have written to them” etc…. well frankly it is not good enough”…what exactly do you want the organisers to do?….get aircraft of that operator banned from UK airspace for declining an invitation ?..send in the marines ?

    Good point

    1. I was still getting messages up until midnight on Friday
    2. People have been working all weekend trying to resolve the problem and the aircrew attended all of the briefings on Saturday just in case we had the go ahead.
    3. No, we had the aircraft ready to fly on Friday after repairing a minor hyd leak.

    😀

You see, thats all it needed. One person from the VTTS stands up and shouts out and it silences the big armchair no alls.

I go to airshows to watch all aircraft that fly there, not for just one specific type and as far as I’m concerned, I go knowing that their will always be a cancellation or aircraft that becomes unservicable as has always been the case at all the airshows I’ve attended and believe you me it is a hell of a lot. You are being picky purely and simply because it is an aircraft that has been under the spotlight for some years now.

No doubt you are all the people that sat in your armchairs and said it will never fly!! You were prooven wrong and didn’t like it and now this has happened, you are just using it as an excuse to fight back……..

Live with it, YOU WERE WRONG!!!! The Vulcan is back and will continue to fly in the future. So what if it didn’t make it to Waddington. ~If your that much of an aviation enthusiast, why worry. You’ll get to see her at another show this year, if you can be bothered to get out your armchairs and drive to one that is………

Well done to the Vulcan Trust.. Keep up the good hard work. Some of us actually admire what you’ve done;)

    Aerostars

    Southern Cross,

I think the Aerostars are one of, if not the best, civilian piston engined display teams around. To be able to display such a big heavy aircraft like the Yak50 and make the display look both so gentle and aggressive is testiment to again both the aircraft and pilots.

Hats off to you all guys and lets hope we see you at airshows across the UK for many more years.

When I went last time, I was sat on the Seafront itself just right of the centre line but made the mistake of being in the line of fire of the sun plus had to move when the tide came in along with 400 other spectators who didn’t realise it came in that far, being squeezed in the process. Don’t make the same mistake as me and the others and follow the guide of the guys above…..

She’s definatly not had a repaint and yes she flew at Waddington this year but only on the Saturday as she went tech on Sunday and was unable to fly. She also was down for display at the Air Tattoo at Fairford but as you probably know it was cancelled so a third days flying at Farnborugh on the Wednesday was put on.

As Martin has already stated, Victoria Lynne is still a very lively project and although things have not been updated on the site we all have our reasons for this and I can safely say that Martin has his hands tied up with other issues, i.e. his wife to be and house move, but this project is certainly not at any stopping point.

Martin has paid considerable attention to Vicky even though he has other things to do and he is not alone. The project has a huge following with other members and hopefully things will take a turn for the better very soon.

Keep watching the site and updates will arrive.

Those are stunning again mate..and with charcoal…wow!!! It takes real talent to work with that stuff lol…I’ll stick to pencils! Can I ask what size and type of sheet you use for these please?

All I use is 160grm A4 or A3 matt finish paper or cartridge paper if I’m out and about drawing. I have a whole raft of pencils through the H and B range and use mainly willow stick charcoal and black coal charcoal. Larger black areas are acheived by continual spraying with a fixer and constantly going over it. I’m left handed so it can be difficult with smudging if I’m not careful. I’m not a member of the Guild of Aviation Artists but have attended some of their meets and drawn with them. Compaired to some of the oil paintings they do, mine are nothing.

I don´t feel the same. We still don´t know if BA had a direct implication in the crash. No definite conclusions, no idea if the crew contributed to this or not. I am sure they have been heroes, but too soon to say it for sure.

So I feel that someone that has suffered such a traumatic event, should have the right to sue whoever they feel, without being insulted. We simply don´t know how we would react if we had been onboard. My support for them. As far as I am concerned, I would probably wait for the official investigation to finnish, but I surely understand them.

I don´t want to put the blame on anyone, but not clear anyone yet. In democracy everyone should have the right to this, and BA defend themselves if they don´t have anything to it with it.

Sorry folks. That´s how I feel.

The point that needs to be taken into consideration is the bit that was quoted by many on the flight, that they

‘didn’t realise the aircraft crashed until they were evacuated out’

The broken leg was sustained on the jump out the aircraft, not when it “crashed”…….

I think people only started to have the flashing $$$$$ in their eye’s after they had 20 minutes or so stood by the aircraft which gave them time to think of a reason to prosicute.

Sorry folks, but thats how I feel!!
