This isn’t looking so great these days. Photographed this morning in Tel Aviv.
How are the decisions made between DAS and IWM as to which of the DAS collection is hangared and which not?
There is no rhyme nor reason. It seems to be based on whims of whoever has “the power” at Dux on the 32nd of each month.
Why have they painted it like that?? Gloss camouflage just looks so wrong. It was crying out to be painted in its Spartan colours, or a more authentic matt/eggshell finish. Eurgh!
I dont get all this talk about the slimming down of the collection. TFC has always sold of parts of its collection, its nothing new and they have quite a few still to come online.
Phill
You’re not connected to or associated with TFC then??
Interesting markings on the Harrier wing…….
Roundels only on port upper and starboard lower – USAF style.
Never noticed it before………. did I miss the memo ??
Ken
PS – I’d like to also add my thanks to all the contributors for posting photos and updates.
The roundel placement is fairly widespread these days. The plane I work on (Sentinel) is like that. It’s all about saving money. (Not really, it’s all about keeping things low vis).
I hope both happen soon. A Gannet is almost as exciting as a Ta-152 to me.
Alohha1234,
If you ask the question you will get an answer from the horses mouth. BWB is the resident expert on the type. Don’t make assumptions, either research or ask questions.
Well I have and still do. When on BBMF and when with TFC. I also work with Bill Richards on his ground running 58 with the WWII Aero engine society.
Ditto BBMF and TFC.
Or I have an artist friend who will paint it to whatever size you like for a reasonable figure…
I suspected this would happen, as I posted on another thread. With extensive corrosion and no budget for anything these days it fate seemed to be sealed. I’ve never worked Comet’s (waaay too young) but passed this aircraft many a time on the legs in and out of Lyneham. Sad, but probably inevitable.
Photos show her looking stunning!!! 😉
Sorry not mine to share, latest issue of Radial Nine club mag, lots of photos of 845 & 3200
Another example of “I know but I’m not sharing it”. Why post at all???
It’s near the M11 between the runway and Airspace
Hahaha Eric! You’re so right sir!
Definitely painted in Sqn codes, markings, crests at the Sqn, not at MU’s or manufacturers. That applies today too! We ran out of money on 5 Sqn and thus only 2 aircraft carry the Sqn “fighter bars” on the tail of the Sentinels.
What’s wrong with it? It’s been said before and my signature bar says what’s wrong. There are a few people on here who are experts in their field. They seem to enjoy deriding other people publically and rather than educating them, they tell them how wrong they are. Some of the high posters on here are all to quick to be cutting/scathing with their responses. It’s utterly hateful sometimes.
There are also those that very much belive knowledge is power. If you profess to know, give the information out. It’s so frustrating being on the end of the, “I know but I’m not telling you” attitude. If you have a little nugget of knowledge and can’t share the information, don’t advertise the fact that you know.
I must admit I’d like to look into the lives of some of the armchair experts on here, the downright nasty ones. I assume some were/are mistreated or have grown bitter with age and have to have their vengeance on those not as well informed as others. I’m sure Karma will have its way in the end.
