The idea of moving a whole country sounds absurd. wasn’t Israel (or the Jews) thinking of moving to Argentina in 1945?

It’s not the Serbians that caused world war one, it’s nationalism, in all European states, including France, Russia and even Holland-Belgium. The killing of Frans-Ferdinand was just a reason to start something which could not been avoided anyway. Blaming Serbia for that war is childish, you can also blame Austria-Hungary for occupying the country.

In the meanwhile I hate to see this new uprising of violence. More NATO-soldiers should be send to the area, but in the long run, it will depend on the people themselves. NATO/EU can’t police the Balkans for another 10 years if the parties don’t do anything about it themselves. And this shows once again peacekeepers are necessairy, and though people like Bush and Zapataro think bringing back troops is a solution, this proves them wrong. And that the old Europe is not a bunch of cowards, because it were French/Belgian troops who helped restoring peace yesterday.

Actually what wouldn’t it be usefull to have a permanent UN-peacekeeping force which can be deployed within days wherever necessairy? I know this is politically almost impossible, but still, the idea could be usefull.

I was quite shocked to hear Zapatero saying Americans should vote on Kerry and the whole war was a mistake, an error. Now, this is not the thing you say 6 days after your country was hit by the largest attack in 60 years. This is just cheap small-talk, and if this is the main issue of the new gov’t, I don’t expect it will survive longer than a few months. I always thought socialism was against egocentrism. Well, sending back the troops at this stage, how weird it may sound, is very selfish of the new spanish gov’t. But on the other hand, Bush also did the same in Yugoslavia, and it’s a good thing Bush, not the US, finaly realises that the days of old vs new europe are numbered. But if Spain (or Aznar) chose to join the coalition of the willing, that was out of free will, and it’s rather childish to blame Bush for this.

I’m a student, I get up when I want to, I don’t earn any money at the moment, but I do spend a lot on food, beer and coffee (no cigarettes luckily). I spend my days searching into the library, travelling to Brussels (and back).

The only stress I’ve got is when my mother asks me to shave off my sidewhiskers. (which I’ve done cause it made me look like a complete moron)

I will have to pay society back once, like teaching history and arts to uninterrested snobbish brats.

You’re interested in what … military aviation?! Hahahaha

No really, the main concern with my fellow students is that, though I’m quite lazy, I suffer from a mild form of AD/HD. Especially mixed with coffee I can make people who want to have a quiet time a living hell.

And I don’t take pills, only coffee, no pils necessairy, I can do without, did I tell you I don’t need medicins, gee, I’m sane …

And weird, I take that as a compliment. At least I’m not part of the grey moderate mass of people. Either way it’s: lets invite him again, or no, he’s an arrogant nervous b*stard 😀 (arrogant too have to admit that).

Ohh, do you know that nightmare where you end up in the schoolhall only in your underpants. Well, I really went through that, cause I forgot my sporting shoes in the classroom and wanted to get them. As the courses were busy, I didn’t expect anyone to be there, unless the principal, who’s luckily, also my uncle 😎

Hey you Ozzies, it’s still your queen. I can understand she’s upset, but that officer is justb following his orders, not? As a head of state, she should have known that.

True, Hand, the Spanish didn’t want that war. But this attack could have happened in Brussels or Paris as well (and will happen if we’re not more cautious). I was against that war, and I still believe it’s wrong. But what AQ wants is to divide Europe and disconnect its ties with the US. Pulling out the troops gives them the idea they won again. What we should do right now is try to get Europe and the US more closely together, not just in a fight against terror, but also other issues (daily things). These terrorists want the destruction of the west, they don’t want to make a political statement. The current weakness of power in Spain, and Europe, makes them laugh. Flagwaving and macho-talk alone will not work, but Aznar should have set the elections on a later date. (if that is possible ofcourse). The Spaniards are in a state of -which I understand- emotional behaviour. I don’t back the conservative party, I don’t know what they’ve done good/bad so far, but the elections couldn’t have been chosen on a worse date.

I know the argument sounds childish, but before 9/11 there was no war on terrorism. But we should still remain rational and go through all options, not just launching tomahawks to the first country on our list. Saying that the war in iraq was a disaster, like the new soc PM, is a dangerous thing to say. He can think it, but should not say it in public, as the whole world hears this. Especially the word “mistake” is quite harsh, as Spanish troops have died in Iraq, and this gives people the impression Aznar killed them and not ‘the’ terrorists. I don’t think this gov’t will have a big chance of surviving, especially since it’s governing with a parliamentary minority.

I know I may sound a bit too rightwing today, but I’m just European minded, and I consider this an attack on Europe as a whole. The different politics in the EU should be overwon. I was a bit upset the other day when some guy said Spain could have prevented this by not taking part in this war.

Actually I don’t like this change of regime. According to me pulling out troops out of Iraq is the wrong signal to the terrorists. It’s saying “you won.” I can understand the grief amongst the Spanish people, but I think this terrorist is an attack that Europe, not only Spain, is endagered. Paranoia like in the US leads to nowhere, but one should be prepared for everything.
