Thanks,but which day?
I was there on the Saturday and couldn’t believe my eyes to see the Mossie AND the Blenheim flying. Biggin Hill has never failed to produce something that never goes to any other shows. Apart from Duxford and Denham, this could have been the only place G-MKIV was seen flying before it crashed.
I was at the Wethersfield airshow that year and air traffic control persuaded the Blenheim to do a flyby on it’s way back from Biggin to Duxford,I have a distant shot of the aircraft, however, at the time I wasn’t too concerned as I assumed we’d be seeing rather a lot of the Blenheim in the future.
Cracked it.
russian finds
Unfortunately I don’t speak russian,what do I do next.
Hi Pete
If you have some dates I can probably find you some info on the Dornier incident. Any ideas?
BTW Lewis guns were always jamming – some say you were more likely to bring down an enemy a/c by chucking the gun at them!
Thanks,am annoyed I couldn’t find the pictures of the Lewis gun concerned,
Will study the famous diaries, they seem to have dates for everything, will let you know when I have chance, more info may emerge on all sorts of things.
Moggy, how did you manage to survive the serious chest wounds and the disintegration of the aircraft and end up in Suffolk, did you land up in the sea or on an orphanage?

Hi All,
I got my copy at Border right here in Portland Maine it cost me $30 US,its been avaible here in the States for close to 10 Years.
We seem to get alot of the UK stuff over here that isn’t avaible in the UK I’m not sure why.
I can tell you this that alot of stuff that end up on Public Broadcasting Systems(PBS) you can find on Dvd and Video. Maybe thats why its only avaible in North America.
Cheers

London Weekend Television got a lot of critisms from ‘vets’ over the production, thought it was an insult to the FEW, plus the use of Spitfires rather than Hurricanes, but the BBMF were’nt going to allow their’s under bridges were they, I think that they dare’nt either show it again or bring it out on video/DVD.My scratchy old TV recorded video of the last episode is considerably better quality than the Canadian DVD.
By the way, where was that bridge?
Just another comment,I remember them practising the scene where the Buchon dives through the formation chased by a P-51,this was done at quite high altitude over Duxord one evening, the camera ship for that was the Avenger, I remember lying on my back in the field at the M11 end thinking how dangerous it looked. They used models in the end I think.

All 5 B17s flew together quite a bit while filming from duxford as did the 3 buchons and mustangs. 7 mustangs on occasions were used
On one of the filming days, all 5 B17’s and the B25 started up and taxied on to the apron,3 genuine American vets appeared from underneath Concorde,by chance they were visiting the museum and had no idea what was happening, they all burst into tears at the sight and sound of this amazing spectacle. The B-25 took off first then the B17’s took off east to west followed by 7 Mustangs and the 3 Buchons, the 5 Forts formed up behind the B-25 and flew back east low over the hangars, followed by the Mustangs in loose formation and the Buchons in a vic.Somewhere in my boxes of slides in the storeroom I have all this on film.
One evening all 5 fortresses flew back in a gaggle from the Newmarket direction, that was a sight that put a lump in the throat, as each one did a low pass and break before finals.
Can’t see anyone gliding out of Wethersfield today,is it too cold?
Kings Cup Air race
Haven’t visited British Pathe for a while. Just did, and downloaded the Kings Cup race from 1967. Great footage showing Charles Masefield winning in P-51D N6356T. 😀 All silver with race #100, and British roundels. Lots of gems in that archive. 😎

Wethersfield
yes, i still glide out of there beautiful setting never has been any danger when ive flown only to myself 😀
Iv’e just been up to fix the wind damaged doors on my missu’s stables not far off the end of Wethersfield runway,it’s cold, windy, overcast and raining but someone is gliding,is it you?
Do you have any trouble with the Army Air Corps Lynx’s,they were extremely active last week.
So where did the Wethersfield F-100 go to?
Lucky sod!
I noticed at the Duxford Autumn airshow that the Mk1 nose was next to the fuselage of the damaged Blenheim and had had some work done to it.Is it to be fitted during the next restoration?
Flypast published a picture of Sally B and the IGN fort flying in formation with the BBMF Lancaster,I missed that airshow and still regret it.
