Didn’t realise legends was last weekend, gutted that I missed the Focke!!
wulf
Have you been in a coma for the past 6 months then and not yet recovered.
Any Civil Servants out there willing to defend their pension schemes and defend their position in the scheme of things, whatever it is, God help us.
The new age of Civil Servants, please, what planet are they on, the chiefs are part of the privelidged old boys network and their servants are shiny faced, manipulative graduates that know nothing of the real world.
My working carreer in architecture and building was started off with real old boy Planners who knew their stuff by experience, backed up with good old boys in the Building Control Department who’d worked on building sites and were ‘belt and braces’ in their approach to problems.
It’s all gone, the ‘New Age Planners’ haven’t a clue, they just read government legislation which is mainly crap, and don’t know how to interpret it. Building Control, the last to fall, is going the same way.
Example, without going into detail, I met a BC officer a few weeks ago over a particular job. Everyone was in despair because of who he was, a young, over educated, legislation devouring, backside watching, keen type. I outlined the problems and said, do this and that and it will be OK. Nooooo, he needed it proving, talking to him on site, it was obvious he hadn’t a clue. In the end, the client had to shell out £500 for structural calculations, which came up with exactly the same suggestion that I made on site, the old boys would have known.
I can only assume that the same criteria applies to the aviation industry, dickheads with no hands on knowledge, passing on legislation created by other dickheads to pass on to lesser dickheads.
We had to smile at Legends on saturday, we were at the bottom of the Tank Bank, what was it, £5 for a ride on a tank, as long as you wore the requisite goggles and protective helmet. What was that about, non CAA approved Fw-190 about to fall on your head, the possibility of fumes from the pet cemetery incinerator stinging your eyes. Noticeable that the drivers and support people didn’t have to wear this crap, go for a ride on the Gamma Goat at Weybourne and they don’t give a sh#t, or have they changed it now so that people have to be wrapped up in cotton wool.
Incidentally, I’ve read some of the wingeing comments on here, Legends was fantastic, and I’ve been to most of them, greatness born out of adversity I say, whats wrong with some of you people, have you given up on life.
Operational difficulties, costs, aircraft and crew shortages, battlefield commitments, very understandable that RAF representation was a little thin at Waddington.
However, it didn’t seem to be a problem for the RAF to provide 6 Typhoons, 8 Tornados, 1 Nimrod, 1 VC-10, 1 Sentinel, The Reds and the BBMF flight for the benefit of the Queen during the Trooping the Colour Flypast last month, but thats for the Royal Family and their traditional entourage, so it’s ok then.
I take it that you’re not going to Waddo then Chox, even if you happen to bump into ‘Intelligent Life’ so it will make your day.
Please define intelligent life, my newts seem quite happy in my pond, I’m sure though, that they would love to go to Waddo, I’ll go down the garden and ask them what they think, I reckon they’ll have all your answers.
For me, the real passing was Lennon, everything else pales into insignificance, had he and MaCartney got together again and used their angst against each other, who knows what might have happened.
As far as I’m concerned, Jacksons passing has saved us from the inevitable up and coming media crap over his concerts. I gather that he had manipulated it so that he only did five minutes out of a two hour concert, so do the 750,000 unfortunates get their money back, or is it all being donated to his inevitable state funeral.

Sorry chaps, but these religious nutters that run Iran, hate women and all that they stand for, they don’t want them to have any powers or self esteem, just produce male babies for indoctrination. The general population that just want freedom and a pleasant life, will eventually get beaten into submission by the undemocratic scum and their fanatical thugs that they call a police force and army, sounds a bit like our friends in China doesn’t it.
To think that anything will come of Nedas sacrifice is unlikely, she’s a woman after all, I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think so.
Besides, according to them it’s our fault, the UK has caused all this happen, maybe we did, lets hope so and it succeeds.
I’m quite sure that the Shah was an undemocratic despot too, but what were the French thinking of when they allowed Khomenei political asylum in Paris for all those years in order that he could build up a hatred of the West, the French who protected him and gave him the democratic freedom that he wasn’t prepared to pass on to his own indeginous population.
It makes me shiver to think that this society has probably got the capacity to produce nuclear weapons.

I told you that I thought that there was a problem after the DX Spring Airshow, but no-one took it seriously, there you go, seals bedding in, cylinders need adjusting, whatever, you lot know best, howls of indignation, fair enough, what do I know.
It’s local news for local people not enthusiaists…….especially that div who jumped in front of the camera just as it landed thereby getting a great closeup of the back of his head:rolleyes:
Cr@p, I thought that BBC Look East did a good job, for everybody, or haven’t you seen it.
Try the BBC Look East site, showing last nights news bulletin, it’s roughly 25 minutes into the programme and far more informative, including interviews with the pilot and the airfield owner. I’m cursing that I couldn’t get over there.
I could suggest it was Shepherd Neame and that the beer was ‘Spitfire’, but I’m sure it was supplied at the time by Hall and Woodhouse of Badger Beer fame.
Something twin engined with a twin tail in the distance near Ashdon, Essex – possibly Beech 18? Making the right noises for big piston engines.
Adrian
It was indeed, my friend, passed over Braintree, heading in that direction late afternoon at about 5:00, at first I thought it was our usual pal the Cat, but no, it was a Beech 18, was most impressed, not seen one over here before.
Following shortly after that, a Spifire did a glorious wing over pass over the town, no idea which one it was.
How are you doing by the way, I presume that you were at your Mum and Dads for the weekend.
I thought about that Kev, but from whom, you? But the damage has already been done, anything on Youtube is picked up by the media these days, no doubt that they have their feelers everywhere, including here. I shall sleep uncomfortably tonight in the knowledge that I will have caused tomorrows headline in The Sun.
