Thanks for the heads up. Are you sure on the programme details as I can’t find this programme listed? Except 7:30 Monday 30th September ‘Inside Out’ is listed…. Not sure if it’s the correct episode though as it mentions nothing about the Dornier in the write up.
The following is in the Jagdwaffe BOB Phase 4: Link
In the context of the phrase being used to describe someone who runs a forum that specialises in the German Air Force during WW2, I think that it’s a rather serious accusation. There’s enough naivety and ignorance in the aviation community already that it can be difficult to shake off the inevitable connotations that come part in parcel with running a specialised Luftwaffe research forum. It was only the other week that I myself on this very forum was accused as having Nazi/right wing tendencies simply because of my avatar. So in this instance I think it’s far from childish. People need to do some research before they open their mouths that’s all.
So let’s just drop it and get on with the already completely ruined topic of how a Do217 ended up being thrown down into a cave…. 🙂
We have a closed membership to prevent the free for all copying and distribution of the information that many of our members have collected from various archives around the world including photos and documents. The need for an account is usually enough to deter the opportunistic scroungers and undesirables who wish to abuse the material posted but for anyone wishing to genuinely take a specialised interest in Luftwaffe subjects then they are more than welcome to register for free. If anyone would like to know a bit more about the recovery mentioned by Moggy C, we currently have a topic on LEMB. Sadly a quick registration is required for the reasons stated above.
Wow!
Yes, a very interesting discovery. A guy called Gilles Collaveri is involved with this recovery. More details over on LEMB. 🙂
What about trying M.A.P.S. Medway Aviation Preservation Society at Rochester Airport?
I have the French Campaign and the BOB. PM me your email unless anyone else knows the new links to obtain them. 🙂
I agree. I found the ‘Finding the Foe’ quite moving at times and you’re mentioning has reminded me to order the other two books. You’ve done well out me this month Mr Saunders, what with your new Stuka book also. 😀
Andy,
Thanks, It’s no rush. Whenever you get a chance as I take your word for it on the Verlustmeldung info. 🙂
Andy, do you know why in the Battle of Britain (or Blitz?) Then and Now Enßlen is captioned as flying ‘+2’ but not a Gruppenkommandeur marked <<+ machine. Also it mentions he was flying an E-7. For the period I don’t doubt this as being a possibility but it puzzles me quite how this was established considering the severity of the crash. Sadly I do not have the A.I1.(g) report for this one. Were these details able to be ascertained from the wreckage at the time? 🙂
BTW: Great photos Guy, thanks.
Well, President Putin’s official spokesman Dmitry Peskov which is pretty much the same thing. If he is allowed to say that publicly we all know what they think privately and who can blame them. 🙂
Putin is not wrong. Realistically we were still a small island off Europe during 1940 but that didn’t stop the hearts, courage, and bravery of the nation beating back from our door the Nazi beast that had conquered the rest of Europe. Most indigenous working class people in Britain still have that kind of British heart but sadly we do not run this country or the propagan… I mean media. Which is hell bent on denying exposure to anything that our Great Islands have achieved in our past. Our National pride is continually being chipped away as we are slowly groomed and benumbed into accepting our fate of being assimilated into the EU.
Sadly it has become very un PC to mention any chapters of our history that might upset some our fellow European friends. Even though it’s only history at the end of the day and most everyday people all over Europe realise that it’s in the past and things have moved on. These days you have more chance getting blood out of a stone than to see the BBC or Channel 4 celebrating our victories and remembering the fallen from all countries during any conflicts that have happened in our past. They are far more interested in ramming multiculturalism down our throats and anything even slightly British is deemed as being borderline racist.
Not the best copy but should be the image you are thinking of?
