Time for a long overdue, but VERY positive update!
I am very pleased to announce that outright ownership of JD now belongs to Speke Aerodrome Heritage Group.
With considerable help from Lakes Lightnings we finally overcame this last obstacle. So, now it is back to getting her dismantled and moved to Speke!
Next stage then is to meet with the airport authorities and agree on a plan for removing it from Blackpool and to Speke. This should hopefully happen in the next few weeks, so with a bit of luck and some decent weather JD should be at Speke by the end of summer.
Finally a big thank you to everyone for your continued support. It has been a very long and drawn out process, but we are getting there!

With Cockpitfest looming and the FB5 being nowhere near viable to transport, thought I would post a few pictures of progress here instead.
In order –
1. Pod has come home now and been fitted to a purpose built stand. Big thanks to ANON for helping me move it using his van and also subsequently making the stand for me 🙂
2. Canopy rails and canopy fitted, mainly just to help with alignment but also to get it out the way for now. Also the winding gear has been refurbished so it can be wound backwards and forwards properly. Yes I will admit I stood there in the garage grinning for maybe 15 minutes just winding it forwards and backwards……
3. All spruce members on the rear cockpit bulkhead have been repaired, refurbished or remade.
4. Have made a start on fitting the new ply faces to the bulkhead. The job took ages as I traced/recorded the location of every screw, tack, hole etc so that it can all be reapplied to the new wood. One side made, glued and a start made on fitting equipment. Then just another side to go! Once completed, I can fit the floor and nose section shown previously.

Indeed XV806.
I was just asking out of curiousity given they were operated from Hooton Park. Though if Johnny K wasnt already on the case would seriously consider doing something!
If you read this Johnny K, how are efforts going?

If anyone has these gun buttons, or spares for them, I’d be delighted to see them at CF.
Either version of the twin electric would be welcome, i.e. with or without safety catch.
If by some amazing chance you end up with a spare one Alan, I am after one for the FB5 🙂
Then as for the FB5 generally, main items I am still hunting for –
pair of ammo bay doors
nose cone, or at least the top portion.
torque tubes that bolt on either side of the control column
But that said any single seat Vampire/Venom bits are most likely of interest 🙂
Jon
This do? 🙂
Spot on – thanks Alan 🙂
Not much to it is there?!

Duxford towers’ old VCR cupola can be seen in the second shot to the left.
From Booker isnt it?

Buffalo fleet list seems to agree with it being a 4 as well –

There was a front page pic in the (Daily Express?) the next day, a long lens job showing her head on just settling onto the foam and the prop tips bending.
My copy “disappeared” over time and I’ve never been able to replace it, these pics will keep the memory going
Was this the picture? –

Also if you were ops you might recognise the voice on the youtube link of the crash – chap called Phil Kelly who I believe was a flight engineer with Eagle.

“Sadly G-APIE is the last airworthy version with G-APOD in pieces on a very long term major rebuild. All others have been destroyed.”
So still appears to be around at least!

You could have at least picked a different nickname to vaguely disguise the blatant breach of forum rules on advertising your own goods!

Look under the survivors section here –
Best bet appears to be MW763.
Apologies if I have released classified information, but it is plastered all over the internet!
Jon
Went for a walk around there with Anon at the weekend.
Picture of what was left of the officers mess as of Sunday. What you cant see is the missing roof and destruction round the back. Though suspect it has all gone now given the pace of work…. 🙁

Thanks for taking the time to reply Mike.
I hope I didnt come across as trying to be awkward. All I was trying to do was raise a few pertinent questions that others may have been thinking but didnt want to ask.
