Do we know where the building is and what building it is?
At a guess Upwood.

But I thought the guys that used to work on them called them PB’s (amongst other things LOL) 😀
Were they called ‘Shed’ or was that just the 330 ??rgds baz
The one I know for the Skyvan is – The Whispering Nissan Hut. ‘Shed’ I have heard used for the 330/360 with varying subtle variations.

Closely followed by the Paraffin Budgie (camera ship)
Doesnt look much like a 748 to me – unless the nickname has been shifted to Skyvan’s now 😉
Hmmm…wonder if any are preserved now? Time to go find W&R methinks!

Is that the one that has a 3 page feature in the current FP mag? 🙂
Update: dug my copy out and found the link – http://www.wingsandrotors.org/F4-2.html

I find it rather amusing no one has suggested checking the groups own website –

Well not at the actual boot, but i did collect the front glass panel for my screen.. albeit in two parts, but it will help as a pattern… thanks again to bamel for his help.
Wondering if anyone picked up that rather nice Supermarine Walrus main wheel and tyre? Very tempting i must say… i had to drag myself away in the end before i found myself with another project .
But overall i thought it was a good Aeroboot, plenty of chat and some interesting items on offer.
You picked nothing up from the boot Wyvern related? You clearly werent looking properly then as I did 😉
I look forward to the PM 😀
Jon
So any good buys for people?
I got a few more Sea Hawk bits which all helps 🙂
Did you turn up any Wyvern stuff in the end Rob?

The restoration was stopped by the museum management. That is from a sadly departed leading light of the appeal. There is little evidence to suggest that a full restoration would effectively result in a new airfraft. Certainly the engine restored by Medway and the turret by Wyton are original items .
Will bow to your superior knowledge – just was sure I had read that somewhere for a reputable source……. Clearly not!
Jon
The RAFM Halifax only ended up the way it is because the restoration stopped due to lack of funds and a lack of direction .
Or the fact that a full resoration would remove virtually all original material…..
Which then begs the question would people have accepted what would ulitmately be a replica as genuine…???

Here is a recent picture of the Sea hawk at Gatwick Aviation Museum; as can be seen it has had a repaint and most of the marking have been re-applied.
Nice HMS Eagle scheme 🙂

It would be extremely difficult to exactly confirm the airfield 100% from the photo, there are a handful of places that fit.
I lean towards FarnboroughRobs’ suggestion, there are differences in the Hooten Park pics, but it can be surprising how buildings can be added or changed in a relatively short time on an airfield.
As much as I would like it to be Hooton Park it just doesnt feel right to me.
Hangar pillars aside there are outbuildings in that picture that would be on taxiways, structures missing that should be there (several air raid shelters for example), there should be a wood visible right at the end of the hangars, and where the aircraft is parked if it was Hooton would be about 15ft below the hangar floor level due to the natural lay of the land.

Having spent a few minutes on Google – I found this shot which seems to be from the same viewpoint almost – and this is / was RAF Andover!
The same apart from the visible design differences!
Look at the brickwork between the door pillars.
The recent shot of OS shows arched and shallow arches whilst in the Boston pic it is square and very deep.
Jon
Those GS sheds did apear at quite a few airfields, Boscombe has some of the double variety, but I’m not sure if it ever had three in a line or not, also Sealand had them.
Rule Sealand out – they are not in a row!
Jon
Think its Hooton Park, the hangars look right and Martin Hearn did a lot of work on Bostons there.
For that to be Hooton Park the land needs to slope down to the right.
I have attached a picture of the Hooton hangars (circa very early 60’s) with a red dot showing the appoximate position where the aircraft would have had to have been parked if it was HP.
