Spit and Hurri never made it to Liverpool for the 75th celebrations 🙁 They were grounded due to bad weather. Still, at least the Dak made it and did several wonderfully low passes over the old terminal 😀

Viscount Fusalage G-AZLP departed by road 25/6/08 to a the NEAM Museum at Usworth for 18 months loan from the Millom museum in Cumbria
from http://www.dtvmovements.co.uk
She is structurally sound, 75% complete – no cockpit fittings at all, plates fitted over her (intact) windows, mains power plumbed in to provide lighting. Worth saving. She was the first of the South African Airways Viscounts and operated as their flagship.
Hmmm…..wonder what Teeside are planning to do with the other 2 Viscounts they have……. 😉
Jon
So come on then – whats the tail reg of the Viscount? 🙂

Having clicked the link above I cant find any reference to BAM preserving the CL-44????
Jon
We assume that the original came from donor Gnat XM691, which I’m told would have varied somewhat internally from later standard Gnats due to it’s prototype status. How much harder that makes finding the right kind, heaven knows! But if anyone can help, please drop me a PM. Donation would be lovely, but we’re happy to pay too.
I shall now return you to your normal programming, cheers! 🙂
You still looking for this guage Lancman? If so then pretty sure I had one in my hand today – didnt have the picture to compare it with hence not being 100% confident. Can confirm and collect it for you next week if needed.
Jon
I’ve never heard that neither, I know in model circles great debate has always surrounded the exact colour type. Some say the Sky colour is same as RAF Sky, which to me seems more pale than what was used by FAA.
One thing I do know is that it is Humbrol no.90!
Well when an original panel was presented (having been T Cut to give a true sample) to the local paint shop to colour match that was what they told him!

Hello All
Just a quick note to say that Mark Ray and myself of the Demobbed site, so come along and say hello. It would be nice to meet some of you. We will be showing our Hunter FGA9 XE597 cockpit.
Mick Boulanger
I Did 🙂
Then the icing on the cake was the door lock complete complete with a set of keys you had for sale! Quickly snapped up to go on the Prince. Thanks guys 😀
Jon
Both are right just relate to different periods in the Sea Hawks operational career and hence 2 different schemes. This picture gives you an idea – http://www.demobbed.org.uk/images/wv903.jpg. Near white in the latter stages and sky type colour at the start. I had always assumed it was white until I got up close to WV838.

to be honest i can see what you’re getting at, both designs are as streamlined as possible but the similarities are awfully similar to just be co-incidence is my feeling.
From memory (been 6 years since I finished my aero eng degree!) the challenge would actually be to take the design criteria and NOT to end up with something that bore a resemblence to Concorde!
“eh? WTF are you talking about? This ‘ere Nissen hut has been here since the bloody war!.. we just smartened it up a bit!”
& then watch them try to prove otherwise…;)
Or that way is just as good 😉
Jon
Eh ? Leavesden closed decades ago. The Six was flying home to Coventry after appearing at the Biggin Hill Air Show over the weekend.
In that case can only be G-APSA sporting her freshly applied British Eagle livery 😀
Jon
They are dotted about all over the place. Was surprised a whlie back to find a few down the road from me – http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=159372&d=1198360795 No doubt ex USAF/RAF Burtonwood.
Technically would have thought it was relatively straight forward however sure there are some potential pitfalls.
Read on here in the past that taking one apart with a view to moving and rebuilding it opens a real can of worms. IIRC once dismantled it in effect becomes a new build and has to comply with all modern construction and safety standards. Whereas if you leave it as is then it doesnt – work that one out…..?
Jon
Well i did this time and look though 10 pages but i couldnt get anything, i was wondering if anyone had to be these? can you go and visit? any pics?
Im just curious as to what they keep out of the public eye so to speak, they dont speak much of the reserve collection
What the heck did you type into google!?
Just put “RAF museum reserve collection” into google and this was the second website it found (after a Forum thread here about the place……) – http://www.aeroclocks.com/images/pics_articles/Stafford%20June%2006.pdf
Jon
Ask Bruce as would appear to be at the DH museum these days!
