Hey Luisdo very thank you for the link and pics. Muy interesantes las fotos π
On 1964 (i dont know the exact date) one cuban An-2 defected to USA, and landed on Hw1 near Big Pine Key. The wings were removed and the plane transported by road to undisclosed location. Further details unknow.
Saludos desde EspaΓ±a. π
I don’t think he was real, but the pilot who engaged Cunningham and Driscoll was no doubt one of the better flyers in the VPAF at the time. I imagine the guy they engaged was likely an ace, but I doubt his name will ever be revealed.
Regarding the comment on the MiG-17 in the museum being a fake, I’d say it’s quite obvious to anyone who knows about that particular engagement that the real jet obviously wouldn’t be on display because it was smashed into a million pieces by Cunningham & Driscoll’s Sidewinder followed by impact into the ground. π
I agree that one Mig-17 was shootdown by Cunninghan & Driscoll, but are you shure that the “3020” was the concrete plane downed? Have you any evidence about the serial?
I think that the plane at the USA museum was painted in the “3020” scheme, based in the available pictures. But is just an opininon.
Great pictures mm2000 thanks for share. Where is available the video?
The Open Day was the last saturday 03-06.
