Strato.. Very Outstanding !!!! Never expected the photographer would nerve himself to post a few up-close images of 23MLD.:diablo:
Thank you Cy24driver. Your iraqi Mig-25 find (and the others) are also awesome.
I try to find some clues about the Aviation Repair Plant of the Syrian Mig-23ML.
The 558 at Baranovichi in Belarus have a little surprise…:dev2:
Iraqi Air Force Su-22M3K landing with parachute extended. Note the stripped painting except the tail. The iraqi flag on the tail is overpainted but the green triangle is still visible in the fuselage.

Pre or post Desert Storm image?
Regards from Spain.
Pictures are obviously from Russia or Belarus, you won’t find L-39s and Flankers with red stars in Uzbekistan or Ukraine.
Awesome finds, anyway.
Could you please post a link to the forum thread where you found them? Can’t track back from the picture attachments.
Retired L-39 out of service are relativelly easy to find in Ukraine and others ex-soviet republics These planes carries the red star in the wings or tail simply because not was overpainted with the ukranian roundel durning an overhaul.
The links are in fact two:
One: http://forums.airforce.ru/showthread.php?t=339&page=30
I read carefoully all entries with babelfish. The people talk about an Aviation Repair Plant ARZ in russian, but no about the exact location.
Two: http://forums.airforce.ru/showthread.php?t=2581&page=11
This topic is about the Mig-23. Here was all the syrian Flogger photos. No relevant data.
Regards from Spain.
Anyone?
Ahother list. Good luck.

You skipped this one. 🙂 The aircraft in the background make me doubt that the picture was taken in Uzbekistan.
Oh, yes i missed it. Thank you. I´m not shure about where the syrian Flogger was painted-overhauled. Perhaps is Uzbekistan or Belarus or Ukraine also. Since the defection to Israel on 11 October 1989, no clear or good photo of syrian Mig-23ML was public available. ¡¡21 years!! I think that these photos are historic, but is only my opinion 🙂 an enthousiast opinion 🙂
Regards from Spain.
Edit: From the same place Eritrean Mig-29UB and Uzbekistan Mig-29.

Holy **** :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
While western air forces tend to get more and more boring every day (see Eurofighter, Rafale, Gripen and company) there are at least some out there that can surprise with some decent equipment.
Now have a look at what just popped up on airliners.net. That’s simply mindblowing and I doubt that anybody can top this this year :diablo:
http://www.airliners.net/photo/Iran—Air/Sukhoi-Su-22M4/1654627/&sid=d8f31ef761d8c9a660f81fca7d64bca2
I always wondered whether any Iraqi Su-22’s made it over to Iran and finally here we now have (I guess) the answer to that question :dev2:
But this image opens a whole list of new questions. Is this Fitter operational ? Maybe there are so few of them that defected to Iran that the IRIAF considered it not worthwhile to enter them into active service. Would they be in active service why did not any of them take part in the parade over Tehran ? Maybe Iran recently purchased some additional second hand ones in a former Soviet Republic, Turkmenistan or Ukraine being likely candidates, and will put them into service soon when they will have reached full squadron strenght ? As far as I remember they did that with the Su-25’s of the Republican Guard and the Su-24’s and Mig-29’s of the air force. Somebody correct me if I am wrong here.
Well, although I love the thought that this could be a regular active duty Su-22 with the IRIAF my personal point of view of what we could be seeing here is that this may be indeed one of a couple of ex Iraqi Su-22’s which is part of some kind of test establishment like at Boscombe Down in the UK, Pax River in the states, Zhukovsky or Akhtubinsk in Russia or Manching in Germany where the IRIAF just evaluated this mud mover and that they just showed it off for the first time to the public at an open day. Have a close look at the backround. This looks like some kind of static exhibition to me with a Huey and an Orion plus plenty of people wearig civilian clothes in the backround.
Well, even if what we see here is a non airworthy ex Iraqi Fitter serving as an instructional airframe painted in fancy colors for the show, it is still a divine revelation to me personally. I wonder how the rest of this airframe looks like ? Does it have roundels ? Are there any others ? I’ll definitely check the net in the upcoming days 😀
Search the iranian movie “Attack on H3” and you see a lot of iraqi Su-22 defected to Iran. All grounded. Never used by the iranians I think.
I was under the impression that Sudan got its Frogfoots from Belarus. Is that not correct?
Regards,
Andy Marden
No idea about this. Photos seen in a ukranian site.

They’re not different, STRATO, it’s just the angle of the pic.
OK Q. given the height of that wheel, where is the room for it to rotate and lie flat in the wing root (like Su-27), note position of MLG door.
A: There is no room. It retracts into the intake cavity. Savvy?
Different i think. Note angle in 1 and no angle in 2 Otaku.
Why the main undercarriage doors are diferent?
Historic day today. Very nice plane. Congrats to all OKB SUKHOI.
It’s a Mig 1.44.
Thank you PIF. I missidentified the plane as PAK-FA.
