Very sad new š My case is like TAZZ. I still have the old copies of Air International, adquired here in Spain in the eighties, when i was University student. The articles by William Green and Gordon Swanborough are always very rigurous and informative, and, in times without Internet, for me, one of the best aviation writers.
RIP.
MR.STRATOSAURUS
When you publish pictures in your web site, that you have found in somebody elseās site, you should put the link, or give credit for the pictures.
I have spend years looking for pictures from the Cuban Air Force that you have taken and publish them in your site as yours, many times with errors in the caption, like the one of a Cuban Mi-17 serial 121, you wrote that it was an old picture, and is not, it was taken in December 28th of 2008 at the border with the US Base in Guantanamo.
These pictures are part of a story in the Miami Herald newspaper, and I wrote in and gave them the pictures to be published, my name is Luis Dominguez in that article.I have many more pictures of the Cuban Air Force, but I will not put any more pictures in the internet since Mr. Stratosaurus, does whatever he pleases with them, not realizing that many of these pictures are taken at a great risk.
I hope that Mr. Stratosaurus learns and STOP this practice ASAP.
Thanks Luis.
Hello Luis “Secretos de Cuba” Dominguez. Again with the same story. First, this is the wrong place to talk about this, second the cuban hip photos are available in a public and free access page called flickr.com. and last, if you have pictures of the Cuban Air Force please share with us, here or in your page “secretos de Cuba”. Thanks.
Sorry guys, definitively egyptian… you Ā“re right…:)
6425 is another plane, not the same.
Strato, one small correction for your great website
The serial of this bird is 3-127, not 20127.BTW, the MiG-21 in question is indeed Egyptian, it was even featured in In Action or some other Squadron/Signal publication, Syria is out of question this time..
Thank you for all the corrections… Really its a very curious photo and i dont believe that the seller use photoshopped photos for sale. I have (like yours) a lot of photos from Brightstar exercises and none of the egyptian planes carries green stars on the roundels or the flag. If this photo is autentic and capted in 1.981, (i agree is capted in Egypt), perhaps, only perhaps, the plane is not egyptian. Perhaps is an ex-egyptian donated or sell to Syria.
In 1.981, if the roundel carries green stars i have doubts…
Googeler the watermark is only for my personal upgraded copy…
Regards form Spain… and for me, the mig is Syrian…:)
Sorry, that one is genuinely Egyptian. I have the same plane in a book , at higher res, clearly showing the eagle on fin flag, and the over-painted stars on both flag and roundel. Egypt also used marking with two stars during the United Arab Republic:
http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/Flags/eg-uar.html
The legend in the book says : “MiG-21US at Manzila AB in Egypt’s Nile delta in 1981.”
Note also typical NileValley camo and the Egyptian vulture insignia on the nose.
Thank you for the info, but i have still some doubts about the plane…
Syrian Mig-21U 5642 erroneusly capted as egyptian. Note green stars on the flag (no yellow eagle) and in the fuselage roundel.:diablo:
