The T-34 Association list gives those as the Manufacturer’s Serial No (Seq 1159 to 1178)

I can’t find an online list of those countries that obtained B-45s (T-34A), as opposed to the later T-34C

I don’t know if these have been mentioned before or indeed if the owner is a forum member, but this set of photos is truly amazing and shocking all at the same time. I think i actually shed a tear at some. http://www.flickr.com/photos/alanwz581/page1/

What a fascinating collection (Especially the three ex-Foulness Scimitar noses) – I think more than a few of these appeared inthe Scrapyards thread

Would anyone have a photo of Comet 1 XM829 when it was in service at Farnborough in the late ’60s, or have details of it’s markings?
I’ve found shots of it derelict at Stansted but nothing of it operational at the RAE.

Off the top of my head, I don’t think XM829 served at Farnborough – I think it was mainly with the AAEE at Bsocombe, possibly from about 1961 to 1964/5, when it went to Stansted.

There may be a pic in Tim Mason’s book on the AAEE, it certainly had a profile, but it seems to have been rarely photographed.

Might be worth dropping Nils at Vingtor decals a line – they did a decal sheet of the Tripartite Evaluation Squadron markings a couple of years back.

The actual toolmaking isn’t the problem. A toolmaker will only cut what the designer has told them to do. All the inaccuracies are down to poor research or design these days. Several model companies I could name-check also use 3D digital scanning as well as original manufacturers drawings, so you can guarantee their accuracy.

The toolmaker can be – not the first time a toolmaker has added or amended details on a kit bea=cause they think the designer has missed something – the Airfix 1/72 Spitfire IX for example, where the toolmaker added detail to both fuselage sides that the designer had only put (correctly) on one.

Casting Bader – I suppose it depends on whether you want to have someone youger get older, or someone close to his age (or older) appear younger in the early years. And if you want someone who looks like him.

James McAvoy might be a good choice.

IIRC there has been more than one instance of items being stolen from some of the Southern museums which have all the appearances of being stolen to ‘order’

As far as possible, crews were picked-up and returned to base the same day. The air-taxi was usually, but not always, an Anson. There is an excellent DVD called ‘Ferry Pilot’, made in the war. There are no actors, and all the participant (Some very famous.) use pseudonyms, apart from one who is not seen close-up. They sell this at the RAFM and I think the IWM too. Look on their websites.

    It’s on Youtube

This photograph is a bit of a puzzle.

Clearly a version of 1940 ‘photo-shopping’ has gone on. But what is it all about?

    The inscription says “Thursday Oct 31st 1940 H.Petty ?”

Petty was a Littlehampton photographer and the building is said to be a Littlehampton or Rustington pub. A swastika seems to have been inked onto the fin.

Would love to know the story behind the image!

Other than it’s a re-touched Blackburn Shark, nothing to contribute!

Wasn’t there some story that she had been acquired by the museum at Southampton ?.

    Bob T.

Acquired then sold on as they didn’t have the funds to restore it as they wished.

there was a project walrus website, but it expired on the 20th March.

Just ran across a couple of pictures I took 20+ years ago. Perhaps someone will find them interesting as the detritus of war.

    Angola?

I think it may be Buc.

I’d agree – Naval Buccaneer in Extra Dark Sea Grey over White. There are quite a few candidates
