Did these originate with the Jim Pearce recoveries?
There was a flying Whirlwing HCC12 a few years back if I recall correctly
A flying Typhoon. Something I never thought I’d see
So glad they decided to do a full restoration rather than the original idea to do a ‘half restored, half as found’ job
Science Museum say it’s on loan to them from RAFM. Whether still MOD owned or passed to the RAFM is not stated
Oxford Blue is, surprisingly, BS381C 105 Oxford Blue
I beleive 112 is correct for Cambridge blue
Most of the people who own these aircraft got into that position by knowing when to buy and sell, and how to work a deal
I suspect with the film now on the shelf (and not likely to procede anytime soon due to lack of funding) they have decided to release the obvious tie-in Lancaster kit to at least recoup the outlay on that.
And if anyone wants to buy a 1:1 scale Lancaster model, maybe an enquiry should be made to Weta…..
Yes, still outside
The Protection of Military Remains Act applies. The concern is that this site was surveyed (Twice) by Dover, but not identified as a wreck site, just a ‘seabed disturbance (How convenient)
Charlie, thank you for those photos, I have a long-term interest in 1903/1913, and especially the L-19, but also WE591 and it’s unique colour scheme. The following pics might be of interest to you – the two with captions came from a US magazine that I can’t recall at the moment, but the one of the L19 is the only one I know of to show the upper surfaces. Perhaps you know how it broke it’s tail wheel?
Regards
David
Agent K – yeah, but I’ve never seen a photograph of the original scheme that’s based on.
Has anyone ever seen a photo of a pre-delivery (camouflaged) Omani Provost carrying RAF roundels? I remember Scale Aircraft Modelling doing a profile of one, but I’ve never seen a photo.
