As mentioned, it’s definitely a Matra 116M
“The Type 116M launcher was a lightly constructed, single use, pod with a frangible nose cone. It was loaded with 19 68mm SNEB RPs which were fired in a single ‘rippled’ 0.5 second salvo with a time interval of 33 milliseconds between each rocket.”
SNEB made/designed the rockets – pods could be made by Matra or others. In the late 60s/early 70s, there were two pods in use, one with a pointy nose and one with a rounded frangible cap – this is obviously the latter
It could also be a UK 2 inch rocket pod, which preceded the 68mm in RAF servce (and was used by the RN until the 80s/90s)

That one is a Gazelle

YOu could probably get the components for the fuel – although you’d also get a visit from Special Branch as well!!

It doesn’t matter who the pilot was. I think this is an info thead which has served its purpose….mods?
Watch out, the forum police have arrived!

Perhaps the 1500 hrs on type refers to all his warbird experience. As that Hurricane only first flew after restoration a couple of years ago I can’t think that he’d already done 1500 hrs on it.
I don’t know who the pilot was – could he have flown other Hurricanes?

Saw them many a time while watching the comings and goings at Cumbernauld on my lunch hour!
I think they were eventually shipped to Hawarden.

the pilot radioed the tower to express his incomprehension at what had happened.
I wonder what he really said? :):diablo:
Can’t be too many pilots with 1500 hours on Hurricanes around today!
