THE INDUSTRY REPORTED A NEW ENGINE READY FOR FIGHTER AIRCRAFT PAK-FA

Ready for the second stage engine fighter T-50 (PAK FA). This was reported by TASS director general of Komsomolsk-on-Amur aviation plant Alexander Pekarsh.
“The engine of the second stage is ready to work. Tests are going according to plan “, – said Pekarsh.
Currently the T-50 aircraft passing the test, flying at an intermediate engine AL-41F1 ( “product 117”), established in the framework of the ROC “Demon” and similar in design to the engine Su-35S.
However, serial deliveries of the T-50 must begin with a new engine of the second stage, which was called in the open, “article 30” sources. Compared with the AL-41F1, the engine should be increased thrust (up to 17,5-19,5 tons), increased fuel efficiency and reduced lifecycle costs.
Earlier, in November 2015, the deputy head of the United Engine Corporation Victor Belousov announced that the first flight of the T-50 with the new engine will be held not earlier than 2018. In late 2014 the first flight of a period prescribed for 2017.
Fighter T-50, developed under the program PAK FA (Sukhoi PAK FA), first flew in January 2010, the public was presented at the air show MAKS-2011. In December 2015 it was reported that in the next two years, industry and the military will focus on checking the combat capabilities of the machine.

Text under the photo says so…but of course it’s not, IMO. Most probably, it’s one of already dismissed configurations of PAK DA or some abstract scientific/civilian project. Knowing our military industry, nobody will show such a sensitive project at so early stage.

    Ok, thanks.

In my opinion first serial deliveries may start in 2020s because of serial production date each year changes as it started with 2015 and now 2018. Probably first serial deliveries will be done with the second stage engines as first stage engine is only used for the airframe and avionics development purposes with some better traction and digital management system for a better integration with the aircrafts systems. And if the production rate doesnt change Knaaz production facility only able to produce one or two T-50 prototypes each year maybe when serial production started it may reach 4-5 each year but i hope Irkut corporation is also be choosed for the serial production for a better production quality and a better production rates, thanks.

PAK-DA had a target date of first flight in 2019 (realistically not achievable of course, but none the less), now we are looking at “beyond 2023” because 2023 is when Tu-160M2 will supposedly start getting produced and delivered. Mark my words, chances of PAK-DA surviving through Tu-160M2 development and production is minimal, or at best we are looking at PAK-DA starting getting operational in 2030’s, because to quote Bondarev “…otherwise, what is the point?”. Now that was in relation to PAK-DA’s first flight being shifted after first deliveries of Tu-160M2 instead of before, but PAK-DA will eventually get canceled til Tu-160M2 circus is over or at best it will only start testing when Tu-160M2 production starts to wind down. Which will be towards 2030’s.

At the rumored 400 million $ a piece askingprice Tu-160M2 will rival LRSB cost wise…

In my opinion it can be called for urgent needs urgent solutions but not cancellation of new projects, PAK-DA is vital for industry and airforce but Tu-160M2 production will start in parallel with PAK-DA testing and development as Su-35S and PAK-FA example, Kazan factory will master the production with new technologies untill PAK-DA start serial production, as far as we know it is stated PAK-DA is the only and the biggest new program in Russia in progress after PAK-FA.

Sounds like empty talk to me. PAK-DA is basically canceled in light of Tu-160M2 and LMFS is just talk too. I am hoping for MiG-35S and Mi-28NM details but other than that…

Newer read about the cancellation of the PAK-DA only launching date may be slipped on the light of production new Tu-160M2s but as far as i know project continues according the schedule as full scale development. LMSF project can be cancelled at country’s new economic conditions but according the news mig is already working hard for a lightweight 5th gen. fighter maybe an Mig-35S derivative with stealth features let alone what sukhoi or yakovlev to offer. Mig-35S and Mi-28NM projects only a matter of signing contracts, they are very capable but interim solutions can not deal with future threats, in my opinion LMFS, High speed helicopter, PAK-Sha programs are more crucial then putting money on platforms which are at the limits of their development.

The reproduction of Tu-160s may be one way of open a brand new production line as the company for a long time only busy with modernisation work (as military aircraft) but not a full cycle production also the suppliers need to be technologically get prepared and in my opinion it is both a rapid solution for the needs of the new strategic bombers and a real practice before PAK-DA.
