Just wondering if there’s any updates regarding the first flight of T-50-2…it was suposed to happen either at the end of 2010 or “very early in 2011”, if i’m correct. Is it out of the prototype workshop yet ? Any taxiing ? Anything from our russian “insiders “? Thanks.

PS:I realize that J-20 almost stole the show these days, but T-50 is still closest to me heart.:p

    We are old PAK-FA fans:D:D

Ok now, that IS weird… From that angle it doesn’t look like a WS-10 nozzle http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/a015.gif

It can be an WS-10G:confused: According the news it should be ready 2012+

Could they reach the targeted trust or reliability its unknown! Or is it WS-10G??

More details about the first flight of the TAI Anka UAV

Turkey’s homegrown UAV makes first flight

TAI says a test programme to involve three prototypes should finish at the end of this year, with the first Anka to be delivered to the Turkish armed forces in early 2012. The company is also reportedly developing an armed version of the UAV named the Anka-B.

I would say 2nd airframe with different engines. I just don’t see the point of changing engines in this critical testing stage. If you change engines you need to repeat all taxi tests again. This really interesting. Maybe they are trying to evaluate two types of engines too.

Yes maybe, the first test, which flies the bird better 😀

WS-10A is not that far off from 117S may be supposedly in same category? . supposedly 117S powers the initial flight tests on PAK-FA. (donno, anyone correct me?), btw, if you don;t care about engine life you can always put into what some manufacture called “ubermode”… to support some flight test.

The engines of the PAK-FA “117” not 117S! Its more powerful and software is more complex than the 117S because of the PAK-FA’s flight management system. And we don’t know other upgrades, they call it the first stage 5th gen. engine! Both of them has the plasma ignition, ceramic coatings, more trust, supercruise capability, more service life, 3D trust vectoring…

What about can you inform us about the WS-10A?

    Check out these sources, you can get more info about NPO Saturn 117 and 117S engines;

In my opinion it has most of the 5th gen. aircraft engine requirements without trust! As you know its the first stage 5th gen. engine 😉

Now in 2011 the tech has matured and evolved a bit no doubt, but its pretty clear that the Su-35S serial prod soon to make first flight will have the same FADEC as the current Pak-Fa prototype has these days.. give me just one good reason why not?

Because its integrated the complex aircraft management system of the PAK-FA! I think it was the most complex work for the new engine.

    1. Is this possibly an integrated maintenance door? May be this would explain the size…
    2. Judging for the photo this door can be shut once the main landing gears are fully extended. It might be left open only for taxi test purposes…
    3. OR…Would it help yaw stabilization at approach?

The second option can be a different approach. But against the everything its a simple mechanism when compare with others.
