Does seem to make sense. Is Cardiff in the run for it too or is it just Bristol?

Dont think you can go wrong with a USA route especially NY from a busy U.K airport due to the strong ties etc.

Maybe easyJet could feed some passengers into the airport lol 😀

My longest flight was 9 hours and 45 Mins from Houston to London Gatwick with Continental Airlines on their Boeing 777 – 200 in June 2000. Great flight! 😀

in reply to: Ryanair cabin crew training charges #659957

I read an article about that in yesterday’s Daily Mail. I remember it saying that potential cabin crew had to pay :

    £1,500 – training charge

£350 approx – accomodation (must find themselves for 1 month)

    £50 – Medical Examination

£65 – Registration fee for a “learning pack and test”.

    £500 – Uniform

So that works out about £2465!!!!! just to train as a Ryanair crew member! God no wonder everytime I fly Ryanair, the crew look miserable – they are probably all in debt!

    A Ryanair spokesman said:

“The Cabin Crew Training Course is contracted out to specialised avaition training companies and there is a charge of approximately £2,000. Should the candidate successfully complete their training course, he/she is guaranteed a job with Europe’s most successful airline.”

    She also said

“Cabin crew earn up to £25,000 a year and the company was ‘offering opportunities at a time when most airlines are reducing employee costs”.

The Department for Education and Skills said

“It is up to Ryanair to decide how to develop its workforce but it probably will deter people from joining them which could cause them a problem”.

The Department of Trade and Industry said

“There is no automatic right to free training with employment but it does sound like an unusual approach”.

This seems like a good idea. This would allow FlyBe to utilise some of their aircraft overnight aswell.

Seems funny that there could be a possible route to Spain from a City airport – probably be ages before a flight to Alicante or Malaga would be introduced from London City airport 😀

I think there would be a demand for the route – especially as the airport is so near the city centre. Im sure it wont be long before one of the low cost airlines offers more routes from Belfast – probably FlyBe, easyJet or Jet2.

On the actual Emirates website, it has a section showing possible future long haul services including Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires using its Airbus A340 – 500 aircraft. It will probably be a long time before this happens.

I also heard about possible MEA service to Sao Paulo but I read that on the airliners.net forum and that isnt the most reliable of sources – rumors flying round like you wouldnt beleive!

I dont think no reclining seats or window blinds would actually bother me on a flight. To be quite honest I dont think I can remember the last time I reclined my seat or shut the window blind. I also actually dont like shutting the window blinds on flights where I have people sitting next to me or in the aisle seat as I wouldnt want to block their view. I know I would get p****d off if I was sitting on an aisle seat and couldnt see anything except a blind!

And hey remember, Ryanair’s new planes have leather seats! Cant all be that bad! 😀

I had just turned 6 years old when I first flew. It was a Boeing 727 – 200 from London Gatwick to Alicante with Dan – Air in 1992. Being a kid, I couldnt understand why an airline had the first name as me and not like Britannia of British Airways!! 😀

I think bmibaby could be successful by introducing some services from London Gatwick which arent served by easyJet e.g : Jersey, Teesside, Manchester, Murcia, Bordeaux, Knock, Paris CDG, Milan Bergamo etc etc

The only low cost airline in the Middle East at the moment is Air Arabia (http://www.airarabia.com). In the future there is also suppossed to be some other new airlines including menaJet and TransGulf Express. All are based at Sharjah.
