If you re-restore an aircraft what original material would be left (at all)? :diablo:
Cees
Mmmm, I was told by someone in the know that an awfully large amount of original structure was discarded to be replaced by new metal. Now I can understand regarding the aircraft’s structural integrety. But it was all dumped in the bin although some panels were used to paint nose-art on it and these were available. I would have loved to get some cockpit panelling however pitted to use in my project. Ah well, we cannot have it all. Perhaps with the LW170 restoration……………

As I recall there have been some wrecks found the past few decades such as a Beaufighter, a Brigand, a Vampire and some more. These are just off the top of my head.

Elliott,
Take note, the window catches on the Anson are the same as on the Halifax and Whitley 😮
Cees
Give it a try.

I would start with this one first (source 57Rescue) 😀 :

Here are some more piccies of the move care of Eric Dumigan. If Karl Kjarsgaard has his way then another Halifax will join the restoration que, this time for the Nanton Museum. I hope he succeeds.

I thought they had a B-24 as well?
Cees
Daz,
Nowadays people would think it to be a criminal act to have the aircraft repainted (she was later), and keep it in this state.

I’m speechless 😉

What did they do with all the Hurricanes they kept until the fifties (even after the film Angels One Five was shot using a dozen Portuguese aircraft?
They kept some Beaufighters, are there any Hurricane remains lurking somewhere?
Cees
Totally agree,
This is a treasure trove, but on the other hand shows the situation regarding the Blenheim/Bolingbroke again. Full marks for Graham Warner and his team in giving more publicity to this very important and goodlooking aircraft. It really deserves it.

Anyone wants a cockpitsection?
There are on sale (only joking of course) 🙂
