No doubt sacked for upsetting the right of the snow to lie there peacefully and not be sledged upon…

Is the plan to have everything on the field running then? 😀
Glad you have a new Hunter to replace the Swiss one, which I believe has gone to the States to be flown?!
New arrivals sound interesting!
Best: JAT 🙂 (Pre Yugoslav break up)
Is that based on their fleet at the time? 😉
Personally, there is no “best” or “worst” airline. I’ve flown cattle-class in a BA B744, and ok, the pitch was terrible, the aircraft had an Air Con leak and it was generally grubby, but having spoken to the crew it hadn’t had any down time in 6 long-haul sectors because of aircraft shortages, so it’s understandable. (The B763 MAN-JFK was much better!)
Equally, my last flight was on an ex-BA/BEE Embraer 145, now operated by BMI; the staff were very short tempered, and without the intervention of some of the pax there was probably going to be a bust-up with one of them and an unrly passenger. This flight had been delayed by 3 hours due to fog and I’m quite sure all the crew wanted to do was get home from their final sector.
Ryanair, MAN-DUB-MAN; an absolutely fantastic flight, no problems whatsoever, on time, clean and tidy and crew with a sense of humour!
I’ve flown on Airtours DC-10’s and been stuck in an airport for 30 hours+, staring at our broken aircraft and another one parked across from us, with pax demanding they are put on that one. Personally I’d let them be put on it, then shut the doors again and leave them there because that aircraft isn’t going anywhere! Aircraft aren’t just “parked up in case of a problem” – If it’s not in use, it’s broke, or almost broke, or ready to go somewhere else in a few hours.
I could go on, comparing customer service (Never had a problem yet, always useful to smile and be polite, it makes a change, I assure you!), aircraft and aircrew, facilities, routes, fares, other charges, etc. etc. but frankly it’s not worth it. All airlines strive to offer the best service they can, all companies do, and if there’s a problem, they’ll be doing everything they can to deal with it, it’s just not always visible to the customer…
Endeth rant about pointless thread.
I would love to know where the info is coming from. Even the management don’t even know what aircraft we are getting
That is rather worrying, have they just thrown money in the air and hoped that an airline will grab it and leave them an aircraft in return! I’m quite sure the management know, I know that some of the ops team know, so the management has to know!
Board Report 2011
Fleet Expansion
We still only have a dozen Boeing 737-300’s, we need to expand the fleet…
Reply by staff: “What? haven’t we have 757’s for few years now?”
Hmmmm… 😉
Are jet2 doing New York routes again ?

Enjoy.

The Saudi register is HZ-xxx by the way 🙂
Thanks, no doubt I was being “fobbed off” with a much more basic, yet incorrect, version of how things work 🙂
Well, easyJet loadsheets have the fuel loads on them, the FD crew can add/subtract to that, but how much more fuel is needed to have to offload 37 pax + baggage?
The ACARS system on the A319 allows crews to send the weather and load figures to dispatch, they then compute the figures and send it back. Or so I was told when speaking to a First Officer not long ago 🙂
Honestly, not a clue! It’s how it works (Worked?) at Manchester though.
Already posted, albeit in the wrong section: http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=106076
It’s not up to the pilot to choose the fuel load, dispatch do that now 🙂
Not the Iraqi’s or the Iranian’s then? Or even the Ivory Coast? 😛
You can’t just “de-fuel” as you need an empty bowser to put the fuel in to, and then that can’t be used except on the same aircraft when it gets back. Hence much cheaper to kick people off.
Not convinced by the story though, do EZY even fly to Birmingham!?
G-CMJK is crossed out. In almost invisible yellow tape 🙂
Assuming it routed IFR then the flightplan no doubt said something along the lines of REG/FWWOY RMK/CARRYING GCMJK ON BOOM CROSSED OUT NOT REGISTERED or similar 🙂
In that case a better thread title is needed!
One would consider this a bit more “bizarre”

Well that can only be Bruntingthorpe. Home to something slightly more “Eastern”…
