Is it this friday as Ive not seen anything in the TV-mag?
Regards
James
Friday coming, 27th Apr. The BBC are doing a live broadcast from BBMF. It will probably be on the news throughout the day a bit like the last report they did on 474.
Oh, they’re fantastic! How I wish I could save those onto my PC- the one from inside the cockpit in particular.
History Channel, eh? Is that about the BBMF 50th, or the Lanc overhaul in particular?
It is about the BBMF 50th. It will also be live on BBC on the 27th Apr when the Lancaster gets unveiled. Airtest is planned for Tuesday AM weather permitting. RTU Coningsby PM. Thats the last update I will be able to give as I am off to Coventry after a quick stop home to get clean clothes.
What a brilliant job you guys at Air Atlantique have done (Hope thats the right company) Cant wait to see in the air again. Will she to have this done again next Winter? 😮
James
Air Atlantique, Classic Aircraft Maintenance, many sub contractors and me. 8 years till the next major maintenance. Smaller maintenance tasks each winter until then. This was the biggest service it can have.
One voltage regulator change and a No2 magneto switching problem, a few engine adjustments and she will be good to airtest. Rectification being carried out tomorrow. Airtest scheduled for Tuesday AM and RTU Coningsby PM the same day if all goes well. I will be sad to see her go. I have been working this since Nov 05. She will be on the History Channel either 9th or 10th June. Can’t remember which day for sure.

Are the dates of the test flights/departure still as posted over the weekend?
QUOTE]
I will know after the ground runs, PM 19th Apr, when the test flight will be and post them here as soon as we have decided and confirmed with the aircrew. Sorry I can’t be more accurate than that at the moment.
Added a few more
I flew in last weekend in a Firefly on Saturday and a Robin DR400 on Sunday. Don’t know anything about an Islander.
Thanks for the update Jack.
Look forward to seeing the completed paint job.
Out of interest, would you be able to tell us what she weighed in at?
Cheers
Paul
38000 lbs (ish). I will let you know the actual weight Saturday as I wont be back from Coventry until then.
Final days in maintenance
These are the dates based on the information I have available to me.
Ground runs beginning 19th April with end date of 21st April.
Air test 23rd or 24th April.
Return to Coningsby 25th April.
These dates may come forward or slip depending on how the ground runs go. Further information will be posted next week.
Do we have a date for engine runs and air test yet boys?
I wanna make sure I’m at the museum when she does to see her. I saw her come in and wanna see her go out. I’m sure it’s a question that everybody would like an answer too:D
Cheers
We are working on it. I had a meeting today and the plan should be agreed by tomorrow lunchtime. I will let you all know when the EGR, airtest and RTU are. It is painted and looks very good. A lot of work remains to be done though.
I wish !!!!!! we left just after 15.00, enjoy tomorrow.:D
It only took me 30 minutes to get back. Even shorter tomorrow as I have a quicker plane. Looking forward to tomorrow. It is coming together nicely but a busy week or two ahead.
