    Well,
I went out for a pint of milk and noticed that Tesco had a Sony NWZ-A818 (8gb) player for sale (From £80 down to £60).
    Bought it.
Put 5 gb of songs on it and 845 photo’s.
The simplicity of use is perfect, the sound quality is blowing my mind! Tiesto, Orbit, Beatles, Pink Floyd, Genesis, M.o.Sound, Johnny Cash, Carole King, The Who, Smiths, Talking heads, Motown and and and….all sound fantastic. I am mega impressed!
Photo view doesn’t appear to have a zoom, so I’ll make a special folder on the PC for downloading to the player, with suitably cropped piccies.

Oh, and can anyone rekmend a decent (Free download) Mp4 converter (From avi / Mov). I’ve tried one (From Brothersoft)but Sophos Anti virus warned me it was Malware so I removed it.

Meaning no sharpening, which is exactly how I run my DSLR’s. I’ve shot with a whole host of cameras ranging from the D50 to the D2x, always with all in camera sharpening turned off and never had images this soft!
    Paul

    I have, it was a cr*p lens!

Maybe this is it……but hangonnamo, haven’t we seen soft and hard shots with same f/length?

There’s a rather obvious clue in the exif data of the first and last shots, the sharpness setting is “soft”. In the second and third shot’s it’s “hard”.

Wallace, the exposure’s set to Manual in the Exif data.

Where are you getting that data from in exif?
I’ve downed the file, opened in CS2 and checked the file properties and cannot find a reference to Soft. Not doubting you, just want to know.

Aside from the US/European battle, the A380 may have another problem.

Security features like survellance and telecoms equipment, also EMP protection.

    from the VC-25 wiki site

The A380 is heavy as it is, will all the extra features make it too heavy?

No. You are replacing 700+ items of talking baggage with a few windbags and some kit. The MTOW could be kept under control……but the A380 will not be the choice.

I still maintain it’s a crying shame that Airbus and the other parties involved could not have made the effort to keep at least one example in airworthy condition. A great looking aircraft, and thanks again to Neil for the little impromptu tour he gave me a few years ago at MAN shortly after she arrived.

I REALLY must get down there this spring for another look before I go off filming again all summer… 😉

Well, I crunched some numbers (In an official role) for the operation of the Concorde fleet under Ricky Branson. He was prepared to fly 4 and use the rest as donors. It would have worked. Airbus were not prepared to hold or make the spares you see, nor were they prepared to maintain the airworthiness certs etc. Branson was prepared to pay them over the odss for this service. The answer was still no.

I really believe that “The establishment” and BA would not allow somebody, that in their opinion is a “little upstart”, to run the most prestigious aircraft…no, machine…..that man has ever built.

My 6 year old has just seen the pictures above, he has never seen her before. He thought it was a brand new aircraft from Star Wars!

Not a glider, but another landing into water where everyone survived, the infamous JAL DC-8 into SFO bay in 1968:

    http://www.dc-8jet.com/0-unsinkable-dc8.htm

I’m betting in todays litigious society, that A320 never flies again, unlike the DC-8. Can’t imagine anyone taking the risk.

……as a total aside, that’s another livery that should be returned!

I assumed that back in Post #3, Grey Area.

Furthermore, if it’s RAW and straight from camera, it is bound to be softer.
Further to the furthermore, we need to know if any of the gimmick settings are being used in the User control menu’s (Saturation/tone etc.) all of which will degrade the image. Image degradation should be at the process stage in PS or similar.

Anecdotal reports suggest they went around looking for somewhere to go and chose the Hudson. I wonder if a ‘go around’ signalled the intention to ditch and if the river traffic shifted accordingly ?

If not, I’m damn sure that’s how the TV Movie will portray it…:D

River traffic doesn’t shift that quick. Apart from the fact that a lot of boats don’t have radio, ships can’t move fast enough. The pilot must have made a quick decision based on “Visibly” the emptiest river.

find it outstandingly more beautiful then the present livery. Even the typeface/font.
Have Martinair gone back to stripes too?

Not only have we got a 100% survival here, but the fact that no boats were hit is also a miracle. The Huddy is a busy river!
    Amazing.

I had a stunning little MP3 player by Sandisk which was easy to use, until the cat knocked it off and shattered the screen by knocking a heavy glass dish on top of it. Sandisk don’t do customer relations or repairs.

Now have a stunning 16G MP4 Sony Walkman, its bloody stunning. Walkman MP4 Its very simple to use, syncs easily through media player, and holds a hell of a lot. iPods are the devils work.

Thanks Kitty, I like the look and spec. of that.
