I love the resigned “It’s B*ggered” stance of the chap leaning on the prop in the last shot!

I like the fact that with the MG
    a) I can afford the fuel bill
    b) I can travel at (much) more than 25mph flat out
    c) I can actually turn around in LESS space than the Titanic!
    d) It has an attempt at a heater…
    e) …And comfort
None of which applies to a Landy Jim! :diablo: 😀

Finally got to the bottom of the MG’s irritating random sticking throttle problem. And the prospect of some jet noise on Sunday. This makes me smile!

Don’t get too hung up on the Spey Conway thing, I’ve seen Nimrods move and perform in ways that I haven’t seen the Victor manage!

Nowt wrong with a bit of inter-team rivalry! 😉

    15/05/2011 Update

Rabbits not applied sadly – though I could be persuaded to re-apply them I think! We are looking at a repaint soon after all…

    This may have to happen.
    Don’t I know you from somewhere…?!

    Thanks, Blue – I’ve saved it!!:D

    Thought you’d appreciate it!

I could do with that T-shirt. It happened to me once on Ascension. Not a good idea in just KD shorts and boots.

Did you have ANY skin left?!

Decent turnout yesterday, and lots of little odd jobs done. First of all, I did promise Pagen…

    And Gannet back indoors

Most photos taken By Ali yesterday, as she got her sticky paws on my new camera and wouldn’t give!
First job was to help Tony move his Mossie back into the hangar, after he’d had her out for a wash

    And back home

Next it was onto Lindy jobs. Andre was away polishing his jeep or something, but he’d left a list of jobs. These included lubricationg the port throttle runs, and removing last year’s birdnest from between the fin and rudder. Why they have to nest on Lindy I don’t know; that said i suspect even they turn their noses/beaks up at the Herald!
The access ladder had, mystifyingly, taken a walk. But Rick and Ollie soon hunted it down. First job was dropping the engine doors, always a joyous experience. Next the triangular doors at the front of the bays were removed, these aren’t that easy as they are rarely removed. In addition, the inner one has the added bonus of the world’s most awkward allen key helping hold it in place!

After the doors were removed I went to do another little job that’d been annoying me, securing the RAT exhaust drain to the fuselage side. It won’t be coming off again, trust me…
After lunch Brian brought us our giraffe back so we could access the tail safely

Here’s yours truly having a shufty

We thought the best way of dealing with the accumulated poo and general muck was to fuel John up with apple pie then turn him loose with his power washer. He cracked on, and was last seen trying to get some waxoyl soft enough to spray in to give the inside of the fin some protection.
I had to leave at 3, but before I left the triangles were back on, the throttles lubricated, and the fin nest- and poo-free. After I’d gone Ollie moved some fuel around the tanks to get her to sit a little more level.
So, next weekend come see these two running!

We’ll probably be Artouste only but that’ll still beat the ‘Rod’s Speys!

…Speaking of which, there’s a new hand dryer in the NAAFI now, which is actually capable of drying hands. The difference in power is quite noticeable…

Each bit of the flying debris is of significance to us, trust me. Especially the runway being ripped up. And the portaloo… 😉

Sadly the website is currently defunct but I’m told a replacement is being worked on.

SH- to me the 109E has to be one of the best looking aircraft ever! As to 110’s- the nightfighter has to be one of the most sinister looking aircraft ever. Despite the fact that one brought down my Dad’s uncle’s Lanc I like them…
