As ever, well done for puting the graft in to keep the old girl in top condition and giving me something useful and intersting to read on a Monday morning.

I knew as soon as the words ‘Victor’ and ‘repaint’ appeared someone would bite! 😀 Nope, we’ll be sticking with the hempiest hemp in all hempdom! 😉

Cheers, seriously it’s nice to know people actually do read these updates and appreciate what we do. And that the old girl still has plenty of fans and supporters out there!

Scott, I’ll put your proposal to Andre, see what he says. Sounds like a plan to me though mate! 🙂

There’s always something SH, as is to be expected of a complex 50 year old aircraft which sadly has to live outside all year round. We’re planning a full repaint this year if we can get the manpower up a bit and the weather plays ball!

27/02/2011 Update

After last weeks marathon effort, we had a fairly lazy day yesterday. I managed to get in on time for bacon which was a good thing, then Rich and I decided that, partly as the rain was holding off, and partly to get to work on the wing rather than under it as we have this last few months, we’d replace the seals on the two access panels above no.4 engine.

Some of you may remember we removed these last year when trying to look into the random fire wire problem on no.4, and we discovered much to our disgruntlement that one had a very poorly looking seal, and the other had, well, no seal!
Below is the sorry remains of said remaining seal;

Hopefully the new seals will help keep the wet out of the engine. The question is, do we dare remove all the other panels to see what lurks beneath…?!

While we were doing all this the other guys were busy doing some work on reinstalling some of Lindy’s nav gear the RAF shamelessly pilfered out of her back in ’93 :eek:.

After lunch we did some more odd jobs and spring cleaning on Lindy. Afternoon brew (and apple pie!) break saw the rain arrive however, so we called it a day on Lindy and moved into the hangar to assist the Buccaneer guys with removing a stubborn panel covering the starboard igniter boxes.

Now for the Twin Otter stylie shameless plug- Don’t forget this Sunday, being the first Sunday of the month, is anti-det run day for the big jets at YAM. Hopefully it’ll be a good turnout, please do come and support the big jets. As far as we know there’s no serviceability issues to stop us making noise, so just pray for good weather…

You Yorkshire men are absolutely amateurs for being tight compared to some Aberdonians I know……

Us Yorkshiremen are far tighter than the Scots, and I can prove it. You can survive in a sealed room with a Scotsman, yet you can’t with a Yorkshireman. Why? Because a Yorkshireman only breates IN! 😀

As to moving a Shack, as long as there’s nothing that can’t be kept within width and height restrictions (rough guide-width, anything over 10ft is notifiable, over 14 needs escort, and you can’t go over 16ft 6in height) you should be ok. As I only deal with wide loads I’m not quite sure of the rules re. being over length…

Interesting times… Firebex I bet you wish you’d just pm’d Rich or Ben about the ap’s now, instead of all this speculation! 😀

I reckon you have just covered all the reasons the rest of us like it here. Some of the other forums I’ve tried seem cold and impersoanl and – I don’t know just not as friendly as this one somehow.
