Thanks for all the positive feedback! The silver single engine bird is an AT-6. I squeezed into the ball turret to get these shots. The SNJ is also there in formation. The guys from Tamiami Airport usually escort us in and it was a great photo op. I made this for our ground school entertainment coming up in January which will also feature video footage shot this year. Thanks again.

We’ve operated out of grass with 909 and our B-24 quite a bit. In fact we look forward to it because it is easy on tires and there is nothing like landing on grass…nothing. We flew Tondelayo out of Geneseo last year as well, another great time that posed no operational hazards.

Walter Soplata has an original NAS Akron Corsair in his yard. Its an FG-1D that has never been restored. I would also venture to say that the current restoration coming out of John Lane’s Airpower Unlimited will be pretty exacting.

women + airplanes = divorce or excessive jewelry expences both of which can be avoided by the three F rule.

    Hey guys,

I am looking for Ball Turret parts for our B-17 909, particularly hand cranks, cannon plugs, and drive motors. If anyone has leads on such items let me know. They will go into a flying airframe.

In the latest issue of Air Classics it is reported that the FG-1D
that was recently completed by Vintage Fighters has been sold to an overseas buyer. Anybody know which “sea”?

Art Teeters is rebuilding Jack Roush’s Mustang B/C with a Malcolm hood and I believe you can find pictures at Bud Anderson’s website for reference. This airplane should be done late next summer. I think they are going to paint her has John England’s “Uve had it”

Thanks guys. I usually make a couple trips to the museum each year, now I have a great excuse. They are still taking inventory and unpacking from the move. It is going to be quite some time before any visible progress is made. The first task I think on the agenda is to strip the paint inside and out and arrest any corrosion.

Many thanks on the Beaufighter correction…I will do that immediately!!

enjoy the photos! I will be posting photos from the 2006 Collings Foundation Tour as it progresses across the states.

Probably a shot of the missing man formation done at Ypsilanti by 4 B-17s. As they flew over taps played in the background. Between that, and the drone of 4 17’s going over there was not a dry eye on the field.

Thanks for all the comments guys, much appreciated. I haven’t painted in 3 years…not much time when you are out on the road all year with a couple of bombers. I’ll get back to painting someday…having too much fun with the camera at this point!!

Hi Mark…not sure of our schedule that far down the road. We will probably do Ft Collins again sometime in late july. I have been bugging Ryan about getting us into the Mustang Gathering next year. Hopefully our schedule will allow this to happen.

It would certainly be nice to see Princess Elizabeth brought over. It would be worth it just to see all the B models in one spot.

One of the guys at Stallion 51 told us that we missed Yeager by about a week getting recurrent in the Mustang. That was in late February.

If you can count Skip Holm as the most current Buchon pilot…or however you spell that.
