Thanks Rich, been a heck of a year so far. We have full intentions of getting shots of her sitting on grass and getting her dirty. Our first flight out of New Smyrna will be a photo mission…should be fun and yield alot of great shots.

Good Lord willing we will be there with our B-24 and 17, I will post all weekend on webshots. We are looking forward to this show as well as the chance to see all this metal on one ramp. Witchcraft is getting her noseart and is looking great. The 17 is running like a champ as we finish up the Florida portion of our tour this coming weekend.

The best way to experience the events is to travel to Sagan. The Museum that is slowly being expanded is incredible. The artifacts are extensive and well presented. The site of the camp is completely overgrown but the barracks foundations are still present. The route of tunnel Harry is well marked and access is made possible by the museum officials. The town seems very much untouched by time and it is easy to imagine the conditions that were the 1940’s. The 50 are also commerated at a small cemetary just outside the camp. It is really quite moving to visit and worth the effort.

Thanks for the feedback guys. We try to fly everyday…and I mean everyday 🙂 Every once in awhile we have something special like having a Spit and Mustang fly chase. I have shot nearly 7000 pics in three years. We tour the US 11 months a year, 7 days a week…great things like this happen often. Tom Blair is one of the nicest individuals in the warbird movement and spares no expense on his machines. He was the reason we have the pictures and the unique day in Kissimmee. We really owe a debt of gratitude to those that choose to preserve the airframes for future generations. I am going to post photos all year…
to be continued

The First machine has resumed flight tests and will no doubt be delivered this spring to its owner. The second machine has already had limited engine runs and will be heading to the paint shop very soon. The other three machines are in storage with work continuing on sub assemblies. There are at least two wings in jigs, and enough parts to finish the three in storage in relatively short order. Pony up 2mil and one is yours!!

I posted a shot on webshots under Chino ’04 of the left side, center Fuselage skin from Elmer’s bearcat…any rebuild work did not include alot of the original machine. The skin is hanging on the wall in the center of the picture. One of the great mysteries of Warbirds. The drop tank is/was also hanging at the entrance to the hangar.

THe XF-11 was a competitor for the P-61 mission…obvously the P-61 won…

Great news …the only other Bearcat I know of at Chino is the Hinton/Maloney/Eldridge machine that is just about done. Is it going to Fighter Rebuilders?
Jim
With the closing of Square One at Chino there were two TF’s nearing completion. Could be either of these two. As for the Bearcat…not much is left of her, other than what remains of the center section and the drop tank. The paperwork was from the Al William’s machine which was purchased by Elmer for this Bearcat.

The only systems that run on hydraulics on a B-17 are the cowl flaps and the brakes. The gear is electric…and run on jack screws. From the video it appears that the tail wheel was not locked on landing and suffered a severe shimmy…it is almost impossible two determine what made both gear fail considering they are independent systems. Only time and a full investigation will determine what caused the failure. In the mean time we are watching closely…

Dave Tallichet was in the 100th Bomb Group, Bob Collings owns “909” and The Dragon and his Tail….but is not a pilot. Dave is still an active -17 pilot. Bud Anderson and Yeager are active Mustang pilots, **** Dinning is an active pilot from the 351st BG WWII and flew “909” up to a few years ago…

Jan 17th I took and passed my checkride for my PPL, I had 43 hours, and was paying $33 for a cessna 150/2 and $15 an hour for my instructor….100LL is $1.95 a gallon. I can see why so many come to the states to get training.

Our tour starts January 30th in Dunnellon Florida…we are heading out with our B-25 Todelayo, offering flight experiences on either or both aircraft…ride in that nose turret…you will never forget it!!
