Some people seem to have blinkers. I never did like Maggie personally but she inherited a country in a disastrous state, brought to it’s knees by over-powerful unions and incompetent management. The nationalised industries were a farce, believing there was a bottomless pit of money to support them. At one stage we were pouring money into British Railways, British Steel, British Coal and British Leyland to the tune of £500 million a year – each.
The NHS is now in the same position. It is, I believe, the second largest employer in the world. Unfortunately most of them are overpaid managers and not medical staff.
Given Labours current expansion rate, before long everybody will work for the government. It seems that every Labour MP is a minister of something.

The majority of politicians (all parties) seem to be lawyers, teachers, doctors and the like, trained at huge expense to do a job they no longer do. They have no idea how the real world works, never having lived in it.

In my opinion, calling the Jewish son of an immigrant that lost some of his family in Auschwitz a racist is a bit much.

It would be wonderful if we paid the equivalent of even Californian prices here.
After a quick calculation, and remembering to convert imperial gallons to US, petrol here is nearly $6 a gallon.

Apparently, although I’ve had no dealings with him personally, he’s a superb constituency MP as well as being seemingly permanently in the House.

Still, as a general rule, in my opinion politicians are all self-seeking lying toe-rags that I wouldn’t trust as far as I could throw the Houses of Parliament.

Yeah , utterly scandalous , she might have used something a bit more suited for the job , maybe a .22250 or a .22 , maybe even a .410 garden gun , if she was out to do the job properly she might have used the correct tools , sheesh , an airgun , piddly things no wonder she got 6 years .

I haven’t a clue now where to check for references but I’ve always understood that the Germans came up with the idea for Duppel at around the same time we came up with Window. Neither side used it until the Hamburg raid for fear of alerting the opposition. I’ve never consciously read that the Luftwaffe used it operationally but that doesn’t mean they didn’t.

However, 8″ square pieces (I can measure but not think in foreign) is entirely different. It sounds unlikely to me for two reasons. Shining a powerful light from a bomber to the ground seems an excellent invitation to be shot down and, pieces of foil that size could land absolutely anywhere. Hardly conducive to accuracy.
