    Agreed.
With such diametrically opposed views, no amount of discussion, arguing, fisticuffs even 🙂 will reach a consensus.

I shan’t use the same invective as AiB but it seems we are at opposite ends of the political spectrum here.
I clearly remember one H. Wilson doing his best to completely stuff the UK in the 60s and 70s and this grinning idiot and his cronies are trying to finish the job.

I would never vote Labour even if voting was compulsory and they were the only party.

North Notts isn’t Chesterfield. I’ve been here for 18 years and it’s a long way from everywhere! Straight up or down the M1 is fine but anything else means cross-country. Duxford on a very good day is an hour and fifty minutes, Old Warden about the same. East Coast main line is Newark, Retford or Doncaster, all getting on for an hour away. West is worse, the Pennines are in the way.

I’m pretty sure there are only 2 complete Lincolns left, one at Cosford and one in Argentina. There are some substantial remains of another, ex-Sandtoft (ex-Southend?) which I think are Australia-bound. There was mention of it in a couple of threads fairly recently.

What a thing to do to a Comet. 🙂
The only time I ever saw one flying was at one of the last Hatfield displays. Not the prettiest aircraft ever built.
    As for buying a b****y 707 instead – Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

If it was issued to Shorts could it be a beaching gear wheel? Stainless and bronze are heavy metals to attach to an aircraft but quite resistant to seawater.

IIRC, they are the firm that converted a lot of the old runways into hardcore for building motorways. One of the reasons Davidstow in Cornwall is still intact is it’s so far away it’s not worth going to dig it up.

    I have absolutely no idea.

Logic dictates (well mine does anyway) that it’s a mechanical reason rather than by design but… having come up with half-a-dozen theories and discarded them all I’m no further forward. 🙂

    I HATE potatoes.

So would you if you’d had old, boiled (very) spuds for every meal for 30-odd years. 🙁

Spent the last five minutes trying to think of something witty. Failed dismally. No change there then.

So I’ll just say bloody well done Melv. 😀

    I’m glad it wasn’t only me with a “wit-block”. 🙂

It doesn’t work on all paints. Every few weeks I go to a meeting where we play with toy cars – HO scale slot cars to be exact. I haven’t a clue what sort of paint it is but although Mr Muscle affects it, it doesn’t take it all off.

His involvement with the Drover hasn’t helped the airframe much. He outbid MAM when Southend closed and donated it to Lasham some time later. I suggest if it had gone to London Colney it would be in far better condition now.

If I could think of something witty to say, I would.

Howver, congratulations, Melv. Soon you should think all that hard work was worth it.

Will, if you’re interested I can see if Robin ever drew up proper plans for his model, and more to the point, if he’s prepared to part with them.
It’s years ago so I can’t really remember but I guess it was around 9 or 10ft wingspan.
