Not camouflage as expected but did Shuttleworth’s PR.XI ever lose its service markings?

I first saw it, and the Sea Hurricane, pegged down on the grass just inside the gate at Old Warden in what must have been the early to mid 60s. Even with allowances for it being the thick end of 60 years ago, I’m pretty sure it was all over one colour so presumably PR Blue.

I’ve no idea who owned it then, presumably the Shuttleworth Trust, or if it was on the civil register at that time as it was a good few years before it was restored to flight.

As it’s TIGHAR and Gillespie, I don’t believe a word of it.

I suspect it’s simply just an abbreviation for G-ABRP – ‘RP.

I never look anywhere other than here, but the R/C forums a real mess as you say.

There’s not really any point in Key leaving it open, it’s only had one non-spam post in getting on for 4 years.

Eight in fairly quick succession. I wonder how long they’ll last.

That was my point Peter. Some are so obvious, although to be fair not usually that obvious, that just a quick scan down the first page would often be enough, without having to check every post.

    Thanks.

And another 4 from a different account since your post. Surely somebody could, or should, just at least glance at the forum a couple of times a day.

As an aside, the programme was also very good. Personally, I quite like Clarkson anyway, but even if you don’t his documentaries are excellent. St. Nazaire, the Arctic Convoys and Brunel are the ones I know about and have seen.

IIRC, a film company borrowed the only airworthy Hurricanes they could find from the Portuguese Air force for one of the extremely well-known British war films in the fifties. I know perfectly well which film it was – but I can’t remember…

That’s some serious nerve for a scrounging spammer to insult a long-standing and respected member of the forum!
