Can’t remember what it ended up as, but it was Jeffrey Quill’s favourite Spitfire.

Not me personally, but a chap in my local was in Singapore from 1952 ish to 55. (Couldn’t be me, I was born in ’52)
I can never remember which airfield or squadron he was on but he was an engine fitter, mainly on Mossies, Hornets, Vampires and Venoms.
    All proper aeroplanes!

Another one that I see less often was airframes in the 60s. He’s mentioned Britannias in the past, and a Victor on the golf course at Gan (I think).

My DH history isn’t bad but I wrongly assumed you were referring to Geoffrey de Havilland Jr.’s fatal crash.

    see

However, three DH108s built, three fatal crashes is hardly a brilliant record.

I can sort of play guitar, but I wouldn’t call myself a musician.

Copied from Damien’s post. Perfect wording.

Coventry airshow and watching Pierre Hollander going in.
Legends and looking up to see the dust cloud that marked Bill Murton and Neil Rix’s last moments.

Despite my unwavering support for all things De Havilland, I don’t really think we can claim to have broken the sound barrier in an aircraft that promptly disintegrated and killed Geoffrey de Havilland Jr.

Isn’t one of the main rules of flying that number of take-offs should equal number of landings?

I agree that the M52 should have achieved M1.3 but we’re back to the aforementioned idiot politicians again.

Be fair, they didn’t steal the M52 data, our idiot politicians gave it to them.

This is the same idiot politicians that sold a few jet engines to the Russians. How many unlicenced Nene copies did the Russians and Chinese make?

Typhoon R7881 was converted into the prototype, and only, Typhoon NF.1B. It was sent to Farnborough in April 1943 and then to the FIU for flying trials, carrying out several patrols over London in November 1943.
It was successful, but remained the only one. Stripped of radar and sent to 3 TEU in July 1944.
As the Mossie was already in service it seems a waste of time to me.

There has been a discussion recently. Could I have read that they borrowed Portuguese Hurricanes?
