I didn’t buy it, it was a Christmas present from my lady. Perhaps she was trying to make me look intelligent. More like Neanderthal with a furrowed brow and crossed eyes.

Haven’t been there for a few years now but I seem to recall there was a pretty high, camera-proof, fence around the compound the Beverley’s in. Unless somebody’s been more recently to confirm anything’s changed (or my memory’s rubbish), I wouldn’t make a major detour to go there.

I understood every single word of the first post. Unfortunately, that’s the only way I can understand them. Strung together as they are, to me it’s total gibberish.

Saaay no more!

Speaking from very little experience and playing silly b*ggers on an IBM laptop (5 operating systems, 6 soon) and having installed a couple of flavours of SuSE and Mandrake, my simplistic views are; SuSE installs reasonably easily, and given a little time, I’m beginning to work out how to do things and tweak bits. Mandrake is an absolute doddle to install but I haven’t managed to change a single setting yet.
I’m a PC mangler for a living but it’s all Windows (and previously DOS) in it’s various rubbish incarnations so it’s a bit of a culture shock with absolutely no previous experience of other operating systems.
I haven’t done much for a few months as my stone-age PC had a terminal hard drive crash (note to all – do backups), the merely elderly replacement I cobbled together seemed fine until I got ADSL when it decided it wouldn’t play, and this Athlon 1300 is partly in the case and partly on the table.
Hopefully, in the next few weeks, I’ll get around to playing with Linux again. I might download Red Hat to try but currently SuSE 8.2 Pro is the best I’ve found.

How come the aircraft was the problem?
It was stated at the time that the radar was over-budget and late with no end in sight. I never heard anything about airframe problems.
As for buying bl**dy 707s, I’m still foaming at the mouth now.

There was an apparently complete MR3 at Finningley until it closed. Presumably it was cut up and scrapped when the base closed.

Apart from the obvious, there’s no difference to the actual airframe, is there?
The engines were a power egg, with self-contained cooling. Serial numbers apart, the only thing I can think of is gauges reading coolant temperature rather than cylinder head temperature.
Have I missed something blindingly obvious?
