You would never guess that I had just picked up a copy of Ray Sturtivants ‘British research and development aircraft, seventy years at the leading edge’ would you.
Its a terrible book because every time you open it you start weeping and dribbling on the pages, ruins its !!.

If you think that’s bad, you should try Project Cancelled by Derek Wood. It gets me growling and biting chunks out of the furniture.

i haven’t been in there for years but The Aviation Bookshop ( or similar) in Holloway Rd London used to have stacks od old issues of Aeroplane Monthly.

Good point, but BA wouldn’t buy anything but Boeing for years. They and their predecessors did untold damage to the UK civil aircraft industry.

I also was at Duxford that day and have refrained from any comments regarding the incident.

As you may guess, I have more than a little sympathy with VLMFlyer/Comet and Bill16STN.
Add the Meteor in, it’s old and the very first flight was made with DH engines.

I think it was actually the stepladders thread that crashed the database. I clicked on a couple of my email responses and after the stepladder one ( I think) it all went haywire. The Webmaster’s done well to fix it during the weekend.

There was one in one of the mags a few years ago about somebody who’d found an island full of old aircraft and was looking for investors.
