I wonder how many people would have said Sea Vixen if there hadn’t been an airworthy one to remind us? Wonderful – big and noisy.

No particular order: Vulcan, Lightning, Victor, Sea Vixen (if only on principle), Canberra, TSR2 (I wish), Comet.
Stopped now because anything pre 1965 or so is fine by me.

I think Kenneth’s probably got the ultimate. There really were some fearsomely ugly French designs in the 20s and 30s. The Boeing Bathtub comes close, though.

Plastering is one of the few blind spots in my repertoire.

Welding’s pretty average as well but I don’t do it often enough to get good. Just welded up holes in the exhaust manifold on my Ginetta for the second time. The last inch or so, out of about ten, was only not very good. The rest you don’t want to see.

The depth of knowledge on this forum never ceases to amaze me.

As I was asking the question I wondered if it was when Keegan Aviation had a presence there.
For the nearly 50 years I’ve known it, Panshanger has varied between derelict and semi-derelict. A new club or company arrives, tarts bits up for a while and when they fail or move on it lapses into dereliction again.
I suspect it won’t be there much longer. Welwyn Garden City is steadily encroaching, in fact some is built on what was part of the airfield, and the new residents complain about it periodically.

Doesn’t help with downlighters but we’ve just fitted low energy bulbs in a couple of rooms. Kitchen has gone from 100W to 15W. Once the light has been switched on it tends to stay on for a good few hours so there’s a good saving over time. After a few minutes to warm up, the new bulb is probably slightly brighter than before.

Not really.
I’m reasonably competent at most DIY jobs and will have a go at anything, but plastering is patently obviously impossible. It’s all done by mirrors or Black Magic or something.
You may infer from the above that I can’t do it and you’d be absolutely right. Hopeless.
