p.s. I have toyed with the idea of Organising an aircraft art exhibition at Donny Aeroventure for some time -would you be interested?:)

I know there are a number of other artists on this forum who may be interested in an exhibition you’d be surprised at the wealth of talent out there, how about a forum art exhibition?

Good work I agree with all the other comments Join the Guild, always lots of good advice etc I too only ever painted for my own pleasure until I joined a local aviation art group and recently the guild, now I get involved in exhibitions etc and get a great deal of satisfaction from talking aircraft/art with a wide variety of people and occasionally sell a few to boot.
eHangar is also a great place to get advice and guidance from
    Keep up the good work

And here’s one I made earlier, maybe I should replace Phantoms with typhoons and get up to date

Really interesting thread this especially as I am at present reading the biography of Sir George Edwards who was in charge of the TSR2 project.
Can thoroughly recommend the book “From bouncing bombs to concorde” not just because of the insight into the TSR2 and its problems but also the aviation industry as a whole from 1945 and its downfall at the hands of succesive governments.

Now having spent the time painting 607, I have just had a mail from another forum informing me that black buck Vulcans had black undersides, I dont recall ever seeing any pictures off this, or reading any mention of this, as you can imagine it would be a quite monumental c*@k up on my part. Looks to me as a darker grey rather than black or was black the case on later missions?
Can anyone tell me one way or the other or are you all just to polite to tell me I’m a dipstick.

Thanks to Damien for pointing out one or two other technical points which I am correcting, good to have a fresh pair of eyes look at these things

    Cheers

Have to agree with all that has been written here a truely excellent read which inspired me to once again put paint to canvas and produce this painting, it is based on a short sentence near the end of the book and depicts a refuelling rendevous on the return trip. struggling for a title at present so any ideas or comments would be welcome.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did painting it

    Thanks

Very interesting thread as I have recently been asked to paint an Auster, this is one of the sketches I produced as preliminary study. I really like this one even though it was’nt chosen as the final painting so I might do this one anyway.
