I know just the one you are talking about but cant remember the artist though I think it may be Phillip E West, the place to ask is ehangar.com, somebody there will know.

Thought I would add my latest to this thread, based on a passage from “Vulcan 607” involving the arrival of two vulcans to the RED FLAG excercises in 1982.

Some great info here, a number of things cleared up for me so thanks to all. And now the reason for the original question the painting I have been working on based on a short passage from ‘Vulcan 607’ the title of the painting is ‘Not below 20,00ft’ not a great photograph of it but you get the idea.
Cheers

Hi guys
Thanks for the help, this is the info that promted my question
“The Vulcan paint scheme was modified in 1972, using a disruptive pattern of flat dark green and medium gray on top and light gray on the bottom. In 1977, Vulcans began to participate in the US “Red Flag” wargame exercises over the deserts of the US southwest; these machines were painted in an overall disruptive scheme of sand and brown, and occasionally wore their desert colors back in the UK”
seems it was’nt quite accurate

In light of yesterdays fantastic events, I for one will never forget seeing the Vulcan display I thought these two might be topical.
And of course a huge well done and thanks to all involved

Thought you might like to see what I am working on at the moment
It is based around the exploits of the patron to my local Aviation art group Fred Penson who flew mustangs with 213 squadron in Italy and the Balkans, he is an incorrigable old gent who has many a story to tell and a naughty twinkle when there are ladies about, as well as being no mean artist.
He is often to be found proping up the bar surrounded by people as he tells his tales of strafing trains and other ground targets, so Fred thanks for the inspiration

A small demo of what can be done with photoshop, not mine I hasten to add (I wish) but I’m sure the artist wont mind me using it to demonstrate.
How could anyone say this is not art just because its digital
Paul C
Absolutely spot on JDK I now belong to several art groups and have learnt so much from people of all standards not just the ones who I consider better than myself, we learn from our mistakes but sometimes we need others to show us what they are, I spend so long sometimes working on a picture that I dont see the obvious things that somebody else spots instantly.
The Guild are a friendly bunch who will help you willingly if you ask.

Hi guys
Best add a few offerings, bit of everthing

To my mind art is about the finished result and whether or not you as the viewer like it , not the tools used to achieve them, the person producing the work has to make the same judgements about his work be it oils, pencils, digital/composition, colours etc, it comes down to has the computer produced the work or has the artist used the computer to achieve the final result, there are many examples of digital work out there that if you put them in front of many artists they could not tell one way or the other.
As you can tell I’m a fan as I use both
