Try reading “Red Eagles:America’s secret MIGs” Our guys were pretty impressed with the MIG 21……..they rated the MIG 23 as a piece of junk however.

Just saw “The Red Baron” 2008. Neat flying scenes, but it was so completely historicaly innaccurate as to be unwatchable!

with the economy of Brasil growing strong while Portugal’s stagnating.. perhaps its time Portugal merge with Brasil and become its province. which has the economy to help meet Portugal’s budget issues
Hmmmmm…………poetic justice.
Portugal still has an Air Force?:D
I had read somewhere that in the mid 80s the USAF Aggressors and the USN “Top Gun” guys really wanted the F-20 to replace the F-5.
More accurate would be….SU-27…one of the fighters in the world.
I think its safe to say that whoever was making the F-16 at the time had the F-20 killed.
Bit of a simplification there……..leaving out their indiginous fighter.
“Red Eagles:America’s secret MIGs”. Pretty darn good read. Its a book that should be made into a movie.

did not realize that the F-20 is the same length as the M2K and similar in weight..
would the F-20 be better than the M2K had it entered service?
one thing for sure is that the F-20 weighed slightly less but had a more thrusty engine!
Define “better” in this context. And as for being a “thirsty” engine…….the Mirage 2000s motor was no slouch in that regard either. But all in all…..I like the Mirage better……….MUCH nicer looking bird.
Outstanding pics Wasan!!! Looks like the Italians just removed the missiles without expanding the flight deck too much………..which says something about their opinion of their operational need for them.
