I think every nation has one or two aircraft in smart colour schemes, personal favourites are as fallows: ( not in any rank order btw)

Saudi Tornado GR’s – love the desert pattern on ’em 🙂

Ukrainain Su-27s – splinter camo’ is excellent

Eritrean Su-27s – very nice take on the above

Indonesian Su027s – anybody notice I seem to like Flankers alot :diablo:

Burmese MiG-29s – gorgeous camo’ which with any luck won’t be turned into flaming debris by Thai F-16s.

Polish MiG-29 – joy to look at

    Israeli F-16s – beautiful

French Navy Rafale – it’s just grey but boy does it look good!!! 😀

Yep. they gotta change that camo…works for the French, Greeks and Taiwanese but wouldn’t suit the Brazilians. Hammer, POST THAT ARTWORK TO DASSAULT!!! Very cool, do that yourself? 😎

AHHHHH!!! Ok Ok u win already, geez poor new guy puts a title on for a thread on the forum and he gets demands to “narrow it down”, alright already :diablo: 😉 .

Questions u need to ask when ur thinking of a prospective aircraft:

    1) Is this type of aircraft old 😀 and I mean type as in the original MiG-15 eg.

    2) Is this aircraft still being used for combat duties, this DOES include RECCE, CSAR, C-47 Gunships…as long as they entered service with that particular nation as gunships and were not converted last week!, FIGHTERS, BOMBERS etc etc. If the aircraft is for example a maritime patrol aircraft that doesn’t serve on the frontline THIS DOES COUNT, IT STILL FALLS UNDER COMBAT, AND YES THIS INCLUDES UNITS IN RESERVE, THEY STILL RUN THE RISK OF BEING SHOT AT!!!

    3) Does it still risk being shot at…sadly the Sptifire in the hands of the RAF will not be shot at anytime soon, so NO it isn’t the oldest. Sorry :p

    4) Does it still fly? GATE GUARDIANS DO NOT COUNT

It doesn’t matter if there are an entire Squadron of aircraft still in service or just one aircraft that is falling apart (as long as a pilot takes it for a spin now and again)

PLEASE TELL ME THIS CLEARS THINGS UP A LITTLE 😀

Aircraft is the M-55 Mystic – found a pic of the aircraft in CCCP markings, did you know this thing was origianlly built NOT AS A RECON PLANE but as a high altitude balloon interceptor???
It was armed with a flippin’ tail gun to take out the US Spy Balloons flying over the USSR back in the FIFTIES 😮 , but when the US ended the balloon flights the project was nearly dropped…instead it went ahead slowly in the form of a recon’ plane.

Ravis, I heard rumours the IAF was gonna buy it to replace the Foxbat but opted to wait for UAV’s.

Nice looking bird though, can anyone post an image of this beast from the east? 😎

It was nice to see the Russians being portrayed as humans instead of the evil madmen of other movies, I get sick of watching Hollywood (and Mr. Clancy for that matter) pointing the finger at the Russians and Chinese all the time and portraying them as warped, global domination minded pyscho’s….we all know who the real enemy is on this planet…THAT’S RIGHT…THE UMPA LUMPA’S…FEAR THE UMPA LUMPA’S, THEY ARE COMING!!!!!!!!!!…..one by one the penguins steal my sanity 🙂

    Whatever happened to the Bison?
I remember, well I don’t remember…not old enough 🙂 …that it was built pretty much at the same time as the Bear and Badger but for some reason got relegated to tanker duties.
Can anyone tell me why the Soviets would do such a thing? 😡

Ha ha, now I recognise it…you’ll never guess what, I live less than twenty minutes walk from there. The location you’re talking about is right next to the new hotel I’m banging on about too! That location is (sadly) having changes made to it, don’t think that particular piece exists anymore…trust me it may have only been a couple of years since you came over, but u’d never recognise the city now!!!

    Couldn’t agree more.
The BBC and other channels like to exagerate situations like this in a sad effort to report “news”.
Don’t know if it was a documenatry by the BBC but I remember a program called “Soldati – or Soldate” about life as a Russian conscript…I remember watching with a group of ex-army pals and wondering what the problem was, it was no different to the life we experienced as recruits at Pirbright (aka Alexander Barracks). Yet the documentary makers were claiming that it was some of the worst treatment they had ever seen, they would have saved a s*** load of money just driving down to Pirbright and asking the recruits to dress as Russians :diablo:

    Hey Papa Lima,
Where did you see that, don’t recognise it! Probably one of the works of art that has been demolished recently to build yet another eye sore! Don’t know if any of the members of this forum has seen Birmingham lately but if what has been built passes as art in this city I think someone needs shooting, like I said the Radisson (I’ll spell it right one day) is nice but everything else looks as if it was designed while the design team was high on something 🙂
